MG ZT driving recklesly

Out for a short run today up round Sledmere and a stop at Wetwang for chips 
. Poor car hasn't been out for a while so nice to get out and drive. Only spoilt by some idiot in a black MG ZT. Whilst coming up behind a car that was turning left i eased off then prepared to pull out round it only to see in my wing miror the said MG that was following going past me.

k Head.I dont understand what he did wrong? From your description it sounds like he was just trying to overtake 2 cars at once, the fact you eased off suggested to him that you were going to wait until the car had fully pulled over rather than overtaking it. You rightly checked your mirror, saw the MG so no problem.
Or are you suggesting he should have anticipated your need to pull out because of the closing speed to the car turning off? Just curious

I tend to drive with some consideration and let the car in front make the first pass. If i was following a car then saw a tractor coming up the car has the right to pass first, then get past. Just manners realy.
The MG dissapeared rather quickly so was either going well over the limit or was on its roof in a field.

It's just a case of the old 'mirror, indicate, manoeuvre'.

Sorry Alan ... another one here that doesn't really see what the MG driver did wrong. He saw you stop/slow behind the car turning, presumably saw the road was clear and made a smooth overtake.
I doubt he was trying to prove anything and if he even gave it a second thought.
Glad you got the car out though ... I will be looking for the tradition gold tinsel and two red balls for mine as soon as we've had the works Christmas hog roast!

Isn't there a rule about only overtaking when safe to do so and all that? If the car in front of you decides to pull out (and indicates his intention to do so) then it's your responsibility to let him!
It's how it works on motorways. It's not the guy in the outside lane's priority to drive past you, it's his responsibility to not overtake you if you have to pull out to pass a slower vehicle
Obviously all the above apply to all except most German cars. They just stay in the right hand lane and do whatever the fck they feel like doing without the need to indicate!

get the impression that the op was slowing as the car in front prepared to turn left at a junction, in that case, the MG Driver was just a t. k Head.t......how could he have seen that nothing was about to also pullout into the road and turn towards them?Could be totally wrong though, and the MG driver just had stupendous foresight!!

Yes, you should only overtake when safe to do so, but indicating an intention to move out does not give you priority. If a car is passing you, and you want to move out yourself, you shouldn't pull out in front of him, but allow the passing car to complete the manoeuvre which they have already started, before you change lane yourself. In virtually any driving situation where a car is proceeding in a single lane (ie not in the middle of changing lanes), that car has priority over those wanting to move into its path.
If it was how you describe, and any car pulling out had priority it would be downright dangerous. Imagine driving down a 2-lane dual carriageway with a 70mph limit. Now let's say there's a tractor doing about 35 in lane 1, closely followed by a member of the 40mph club. You are happily driving at the limit of 70mph and are about to pass the Citroen Picasso when he decides he's had enough and wants to pass the tractor. Going by your rules, he'd be perfectly within his rights to pull out in front of you causing you to slam on the brakes. Now using the actual rules of the highway code, he would simply check his mirrors, see you approaching, let you pass and then pull out behind you.
