I have asked this question on here before, but didn't get much of a response so I thought I would ask again!

I need to hire a "supercar" of sorts to get my best mate to his wedding in July. I'm ideally after an F348, F355, F360, R8, Gallardo etc.

Has anyone got any experience of hiring such a car in the North East / East Yorkshire area (Hull)?

I've seen a couple of companies in Leeds but don't know how reliable they are going to be.

Budget is about £500 (might be willing to spend more to have the car for the Sunday aswell, so I actually get chance to take it for a drive!)

Cheers

Si

do you want to drive it or just get a lift in it to the wedding ?

I know a lad with a 360 cs who will pick up groom or bride - take them on a little tour and then to the venue its about 150 quid -

wont you be drinking ?

email simonspider and ask about either orange Murcielago (boring laugh ), Murcielago LP640 or 360.

I think he might do it for that sort of money.

me, I'm coming to my wedding this July in either THIS,

THIS

or THIS if it's delivered

yes, a friend of mine.

These guys have an affiliation with the North Yorkshire Lotus Owners' Club. Supposed to be really good, although I haven't used them myself - http://www.lambogenie.co.uk/wedding-car-hire.html

Sorry should have clarified, ideally I want to drive it!! I have two opinions;

1) Hire a car so that I can drive him from his home address to the church (about 5 miles) and then so that I can drive myself and my (then) wife to the hotel for the reception (about 15 miles). If I were to go for this option I will only be driving it for 20 miles before I will obviously be drinking alcohol and therefore the car would be surplus to requirements. For this I would be willing to spend upto £400.

2) Hire a car for the weekend to do all of the above, but also so that I can use it on the Sunday. For the ability to be able to drive the car on the Sunday I would obviously be willing to pay more than £400!

If neither of the above work it will be a case of hiring a car with driver (as per the 360CS above) to get us both to the church.

Any thoughts?

Si

P.S. I'm 28 with a clean driving licence and a Det Sgt in the Police (don't all boo at once) so I would consider myself to be a responsible guy. I have previously owned an Elise and 3.0l Z4 so I have experience of reasonably quick cars, albeit I realise that they are in a different league from the cars I have listed in my first post!

Simon, have you checked the link I left. They do self drive and chauffeur driven options with loads of different cars. I also know of a Ferrari place in Chester, although that is pricey.

Hi Chevron,

Yes I have emailed them. It looks from their website that they only do self drive on the Lotus's, not the Lambo and Ferrari.

I still have access to my old Elise (now owned by my Dad) so I am looking for something a bit more special.

Thanks

Si

I've looked at Northern Ferrari hire, but they look very expensive.

Update;

Northern Ferrari Hire came back with a price of £1700 for the weekend in the 360, which needless to say is a bit more than I wanted to spend!!

as someone else has said speak to Simon Spider on here http://www.6thgearexperience.com/Contact.php
prob best to email him telling him what you want

He may be able to get you a "chauffer" driven car for a reasonable price, I know he has a lot of contacts in Yorkshire with nice motors

failing that there is a guy in Garforth who hires out his fire engine !!

Hi, I've already spoken to Simon, he put me on to LamboGenie, who only hire out their Elise's for self drive. I already have access to an Elise so was looking for something a bit nicer.

I'm not getting anywhere quickly with this one!

Anyone got any other idea's re this?

Any private owners out there wanting to make a few hundred quid for an hours work and about 10 miles on their odometer?!? Ideally I want to drive the car but I am willing to pay a fair price and leave a sizeable deposit.

£800 seems to be about going rate for a days hire of something like a 430, DB9 or R8, with Gallardo's going up to aroun £1200.

2-day more reasonable, being around £ 1400 for the 430/BD9/R8 or £1700 for the Gallardo.

Porsche are the cheaper option with 2 day weekend of a 997 Turbo starting around £ 800.

Porsche again, as seems easier route, but how about phoning dealer & asking for an extended test drive ?

We were lent a Boxster S for a weekend when we were interested (we did buy one though), and have had offers of extended test drives in numerous models since.

Same again for BMW. They offered me an M6 (coupe & convertible) for weekend.

Phone them up, book an appointment, show some interest & then ask for extended test drive. Not exactly morally correct I know but ....................

Thanks Hobo, I don't really want the hassle of pretending to buy something to get a test drive. To be honest, looking at figures of upto £2000 for a Ferrari 360 for a weekend, i'm tempted to go out and buy one and keep it for the summer (except my fiancee won't let me spend all of our savings!).
