I've been told there is a driving centre in Wetherby that has fake roads and such. My mrs hasn't driven for a couple of years and wants a refresher before getting a car. Does anyone know if it actually exsists or anywhere similar?

Ta in advance

Hi Mrs Killer here.

Thanks for that. Just another question: Do they let you take your own car to drive round the practice roads?

Thanks smile

Yes, pretty cheap for an hour, but the road surface is a little worn out in places.

Is that the place adjacent to the Thorp Arch Estate as you pass through Walton? On the right between the two entrances to the Estate...Used to drive past it every day but never knew what it was. Awesome roads out there!

Nope it isn't. Thorpe Arch is where I work. Tockwith is a couple of miles away on an old airfield. Thorpe Arch is normally fairly quiet and if your wife has a full licence will be a good place to practice. Lots of straight roads though the Old munitions Bunkers and new buildings.

I used to work at Moores Furniture Group on the Thorp Arch Estate. Fascinating place. Who do you work for? I always wanted to do some more exploring among all the bunkers and things, but got scared! Didn't there used to be a railway station there?

There was a railway running round the site. Just Beyond the entrance to the Retail section you can still see some rails by a platform. The Platforms are still dotted about the place. The old engine shed is on the site I work on.

The Old Wetherby and Racecourse line line is now a "walk" it crosses the road to Wetherby about where the GATSO is by the road to Thorpe Arch Village. It then crosses the road past the Prison and is the Entrance to the Lafarge(?) place.
