Anyone know what was happening opposite the abbey today just off the A65 shed loads of old bill pulling in random cars no doubt for the tax and insurance checks but does it really need that many men on the ground there must have been 6 bikes, 2 trailer's promoting the West Yorks Police, couldn't count how many cars or actual body's because there were that many but surely insurance and tax should be left to Trafpol, not beat bobby's total waste of manpower IMHO or am i wrong??

They used to do this further down Kirkstall Rd when I worked on there - usually a camera car / van up the road that checks the plates on the insurance / tax / MOT database and then the cars and bikes further down pick them up and pull them over. It wasn't random checks but they may have changed tactics.

They used to get lots outside the Immigration Dept (I worked next door) - cars were often clamped and left in the bus stop for the day before a transporter came to take them away.

They were then down Meanwood Rd from 6-7pm with the ANPR van and units stopping people. I'm all for it to be honest, it's actually good to see them about doing some road policing.

They were out in force yesterday on the Boston Weigh bridge. Evidently looking for something as they had 10+ white vans pulled in there and a shedload of police/associated hangers on

Yeah i'm all for it obviously people driving round with no insurance etc is not good for any of us its the amount of manpower which i couldn't belive total waste of tax payers money IMHO

Don't know how many were at Kirkstall, over here it was one ANPR van, 1 car and 2 bikes, so not too bad.

Usually we're supporting the lazy bds and their 5 kids too.

Now getting the fines out of them will be another matter.

F'hell, fully loaded and ready to go. Shows what the cops are up against, and that the ANPR is a good system. Going to have to stop honking the horn at people round here though!

Yeah ANPR has certanly done it's job there, that could well have saved someone's life!!
