Yorkshire Air Ambulance - Can you support??
Discussion
I'm using my participation in the 2009 Harewood Speed Hillclimb Championship, my first year competing in motorsport, to raise awareness and donations for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance charity.
You may have seen the YAA's helicopters around and about in the skies of Yorkshire providing their life saving work to a reach over 5 million people, or even seen them attend the scene of an accident. What you probably didn't consider at the time, is who foots the bill for their work? The answer is the public - YAA need £7,200 a day - just to maintain the current service - and rely on charitable donations for this funding.
As keen drivers, we all have an appreciation how much emergency services like this can mean the difference between life and death at a serious road traffic accident. I appreciate that with the current economy and all, times are tough for many people, but if you can - I'd ask you to consider making a donation to YAA via my website at http://www.chrisgibbsracing.co.uk/9.html
Thanks in advance for your support.

Hi Gemini, yep, I already understood that many PH's have given generously in terms of time/money for YAA on many previous occassions.
I'm just trying to do my bit and hopefully add to the pot (in a small way) to enable YAA to carry on operating successfully through 2009.
I'm hopeful I can raise a significant ammount via my employer donating, but need to show I can raise private donations first, to whet their appetite to support me fully.
Thanks.

I perhaps should have added to my original post, FWIW I was a 'supporter' of our local air ambulance service long before the Hammond incident (hats off to all those who raised money both then and afterwards). The granddaughter of a friend, had a horse riding accident resulting in serious head injuries. First taken to a local hospital by road ambulance she was then airlifted to Leeds for Neuro-surgery. Sadly despite everyones best efforts, she died later that night. At least the air ambulance had given her a fighting chance. All the more tragic since she was only 4.
Any donations, however small welcome. Thanks.

Good news :-)
My employer Pace PLC has just generously donated £500 to the Yorkshire air Ambulance Charity, that along with the £300 donated by friends and family makes for over £800 raised so far to date.
I'm hoping to get to over £1000 by October.
Anyone else able to support YAA with a donation? (see http://www.chrisgibbsracing.co.uk/9.html for details).
Thanks.

Hi Chris
Nice to see your page and this idea. I met you atvthe last Harewood Hillclimb. I was with my son Harris spectrating and promoting the Caterham hire business. I'm thinking about donating a share of profits to the Air ambulance.
Feels like it might be a drop in the ocean and my sons football team need some sponsorship.
I'll keep yu posted and good luck next year.
I'm not going to compete but I wiol turn up for practice in the new Gulf Racing livery car. Nick at Midlands whose car it was is sending up some psare wheels with Ao48's - should be fun.
Kind regads
Scott.
