Just now, avoid if you can wink

What can they do if you just ignore them?

Difficult to ignore I imagine as they have plod out to pull you in.

Really annoying that they always pick rush hour to do these things. They had one on Chapeltown Rd the other week and the Ring Road at Halton not long before that. It holds up traffic on an already slow road during rush hour.

I always get caught up at Halton. Usually it is PCSO's there so do they have the same power to stop you? I guess they do.

They got me near Holbeck on Tuesday night, I suspect they will be doing the rounds on all the busy main roads so they can pretend they are OK to look into congestion charging again because most of us could use public transport. Even if it would cost more, take longer and mean mixing with the public.

Is there any punishment for not stopping?

I've seen them operating on Apperly Bridge a few times and have been lucky not to be waved in

I can't see WHY we have to stop and take time out for this st

I couldn't avoid stopping, they split the road into 2 lanes using cones and stood in the way, I would have needed to knock down the census guy and a policeman or go onto the wrong side of the road.

I suspect they would come after you if you drove through, not wanting to do something like that must mean you are a terrorist or have something to hide surely?

I wasn't saying you should have gone through hehe

I just think it's stupid, if they were giving information out about a murderer or actively asking for witness' or something along those lines, then fair enough....but a census???????????????????????

LOL, I didn't think you were, having read my reply it does sound like it's been created in response to that suggestion though.

I was just saying that had I decided that this wasn't for me and wanted to carry on my way then I wouldn't have been able to.

The questions were basic anyway, it's only interested in trips started and ended in Leeds and seemed geared towards checking if people pay to park and use their cars during the day if they go to work. My trip from work to Costco won't really tell them a great deal but they asked and I obliged by filling the form in and posting it off to them.

You have to stop if a policeman tells you to but you don't have to say anything to the census people. You can just say your not interested.
