Looking to go somewhere nice for a meal in Leeds with the mrs for my birthday. Usually go to Sous le Nez but looking to try somewhere different. Don't want to go somewhere just for an expensive pizza. Had Malmaison and Anthonys suggested so far, anyone got any other ideas?

Thanks

Brassierie 44 on the calls, or even posher, next door, used to be the owners of Poole Court, not sure now. Had a Michelin Star. There is also Heathcotes over looking the canal basin.

Brasserie 44 is nice, although a little cramped inside (and menu is nothing special).

Heathcotes used to be very nice although haven't been in a while so can't comment of recent, it does however seem to now be accomodating children ???.

Anthonys is definately worth the experience although the last time we went there were only 5 people in (including 2 of us) which doesn't help, although the food was fabulous.

Souz le nez en ville on quebec street was another one which was very nice last visit, however have heard mixed reports from other people.

Poole court as Al says is very nice, although looking a little dated (unless changed recently).

If you don't have to go Leeds city centre then definately consider The Box Tree at Ilkley as it is very very nice, or even Haleys at Headingley.

Hi Mark - long time no see. Still getting the bike on to the track, when Stu isn't bending it that is smile

Hayleys? Blimey ... when I was at Butler Advertising we designed some of their launch material. Good to see they are still going some 15 years later. A very nice place from what I can remember.

Hi - I normally prefer La Grillade to Sous Le Nez, nicer food, friendlier staff and the steaks are just awesome. For somewhere extremely french, try kendalls brasserie near the Playhouse. An undiscovered gem. Toptable.com is always worth a shout if you want to do a bit of research.

Someone mentioned york place - nice food, no atmosphere. Hardly ever anyone in, but can't fault the food.
