They also have some pretty nice packages to make them a bit more affordable for mere mortals like me.
So very very tempted in 2010 to have a go, even if it's for only 18 or 24 months on a half membership!
I had considered something last year, rather than buying my Z4... just keeping my old cheap Peugeot 306 diesel. Going over the sums again, I am pretty much 90% of the way to a half-yearly membership in differential cost from keeping my old car vs running the Z4... but there were no decent clubs in the North offering ~ £5k memberships.
Anyone else been tempted by these?
ClubGT would likely be more my cup of tea, offering older but still fairly exotic cars, more of the time for your money, but all the best ones are darn sarf

I'm not sure I'd be that bothered about driving these cars on the road. 5k is a lot of money and whats the insurance excess if you crash? I'd imagine it could be potentially quite financially ruinous. I rekon 5 grands worth of 6th gear experience days or other supercar track experiences would be better. Only thing with that is you cant park it up at home and get the curtains twitching

Hehe, I think the insurance excesses are probably pretty terrible
That would be where the need for having lots of cash kicking around came into it's own, ie, the kind of person where supercar ownership would be possible comfortably to start with, but they go with these clubs just to save more money, not to make some kind of ownership possible in the first place. A good point with a little perspective added!
I remember there was a good review in a magazine (Performance Car iirc), about a company in the Midlands and you paid ~ £950 (iirc) to drive about 160 road miles, driving from checkpoint ot checkpoint in a 997 Turbo, F430, R8, DB9 and a few others... looked quite interesting to get a go in a few different cars... and I think the excess wasn't half bad (not nice, but not silly)
Yeah, the track-day things sound good too. I think these cars make more sense on the road though. The LP640 Murci for example, felt fast (push in the back), but out on that runway it felt slow. An Atom or Caterham would likely feel more intense, faster, extreme, etc... On the road would be where the character really oozes out I would imagine. Just those insurance excesses for supercars and roads mixing together
