Hi All

Minster FM are having a raceday this sat 26th at the new track at Tockwith.

We're turning up to promote our Caterham hire business and they're running a competition through the week for gift vouchers for days out in the cars. We should also be on the track to scare some of the presenters. We're hoping that our new Gulf colours Supersport will be here in time.

Ecurie 25, the supercar club just started in Leeds will be there and Paul who runs it is a super chap. I think KTM will have some X Bows there as well.

I'm going up to have a look at the track today as I'm astonished they've got permission but well done if they have.

more at www.minsterfm.co.uk click on Race Day.

Hope to see you there.

Do you have any more details of the track, Scott, my Googling hasn't found anything ?

A jolly convenient spot for track days if they are planned... scratchchin

I'll have a pop down to this, need to drop my dad off at our shop so it'd be rude not to really.

How do you actually get in to it? The entrance at the end of the village, or where it's signposted on the Rudgate road (the one with the business park on it)?

I'd be interested to know if there has been a new track made at tockwith too!

I heard there was talk of a section of tarmac being redone last year (the bit furthest away from the houses)

I'd guess it would still be too near to houses for full blown trackdays frown

Is this where they've tarmacced a track next to the karting circuit?

Yes it is, Al

I got told on Sunday that it was set up for testing the owners sons Ginetta
and that it will now be opened for invited guests/clubs to use

I was wanting to know what the noise restrictions might be

Awaiting more details but know the X Bow will be there taking a few people around

Simon has done well to get anything there. Of course it isn't Croft but it's a start. V short and could use a few more wiggles. I guess he doesn't get many loud days.

We'll have our "new arrival" Roadsporthire caterham (Supersport with superlight R bits) on there for a few laps (gulf colours smile and it'll be interesting to see how the 430 spider, x bow and Ginettas get on too. We can't drift because of noise but should be fun anyway

Come up and say hello if you get along. We'll have a couple of cars beside the Ecurie 25 guys.

We'll advertise on here for next season.

Anything that gets more venues and interest has to be good.

Cheers

Scott.

I bet the residents of Prince Rupert Drive and The Green are over the moon. I remember they used to go spare when I was learning to drive on there when I was 15......20 years ago.

My mates Dad hired a Sierra Cosworth from there for a day, I was asked if I wanted to go. That must have been 20+ years ago. Excellent day out.

Is there still a young driver facility there? I can't find anything on the web.

Was it a white one?? I remember him flying down the straight after me cos I was braking the 30??mph speed limit in my dad's Calibra whilst he was sleeping.....I must have only been 15 or 16. I think his name was Simon Norris or something??

No it was a black one. at that time it didn't have the whale tail spoiler on as someone had had a car/hedge interface the weekend previous.
Anyone know if Tockwith are still doing kids driving? Had a look for a website but can't find anything.

I believe they do, always see youngsters on there.

I was told by the lady who I presume owns/runs Tockwith Motorsport with her husband that it is £250 for half a day and £350 for a full days session. They've been open to the public for 2 months apparently - I presumed that the Minster FM day was their grand opening confused
