As the title says, is there anyone else from Yorkshire going down to the annual and infamous Pistonheads event of the year, BTaP?

scratchchin So, are me, Blueyonder and Chim Girl the only people from Yorkshire attending the main Pistonheads event of the year?

Blimey, I remember the days when we used to have convoys of about a dozen cars meeting at Woodhall or Wooley Edge services for the run down.

A real shame frown

Timing being the primary issue - I have the kids that weekend, and not in a position to swap.

Plus the price isnt attractive, to be honest frown

Let's face it, the price has never been "attractive", but that is not what it is about is it. As one of the old school, you know as well as I do Marcus that it is the highlight of the Pistonheads year and, a chance to put a lot of faces to names and have a damned good p!ssup.

It's always good to have an excuse to get dressed up too and I believe there is food involved at some point biggrin

And as far as value goes, makes perfect sense to me, using "man-maths" biggrin If it wasnt a contact weekend, or if the Enemy was in any sort of negotiable mood, we'd be there. Its still not the best of times to be laying out more than a few hundred at the moment though.

Surely this has everything to do with the changing PH demographic. You can say this is for the worse if you wish, but things have definitely really changed here over the last few years and I think you'll find the average pistonheader is now a very different person to he/she once was.

I seriously considered it last year and this, as i have met a few attendees in 'real life' before and got on well, and been to lots of other PH events.

But theres a number of reasons why I didnt -

- Its a lot of money (although not saying its bad value, I'm just not hugely affluent!)
- I dont really know any of you Yorkshire people that are attending
- Theres no way in hell I could persuade the Missus to come so I would feel a bit of a Lemon.

I miss the old days for so many reasons

However so much of life has changed.
Its not for me now, these days.

Memories are sweet though! smile

yes Many of the "old" crowd have moved on, in terms of cars, locations and changed personal circumstances. For me, BT&P gives me an opportunity to catch up with people I don't get to see often. It's likely to be the last one I go to though.

In terms of the convoy crowd, Gemini, MOD500, Rods & Karen aren't going to be there, JSG is coming from wrong side o'hills, DrBert is considering it if he can get a flight. Who else have I missed?

Those were the days smile

I remember when I had the yellow Spider and we all passed those police on the M1 who were dealing with an accident on the hard shoulder, well, the road did clear just as we passed under a bridge, so it would have been rude not to… they nearly jumped out of their skins hehe

And here's a shot taken by Gemini's passenger the year before, 2003 I believe.

Me!

I'm not going because now I drive an Aston, the ticket and accomodation costs are just too low. smile

Joking aside, I might be attending. Depends on the results of my next scan.

Do you think we need a night out? Given past performance I doubt it will happen.

same here really.

money's not the issue, i reckon it'd be ok for a good pissup, feed and knees up. main reason for not going is i only know one PHer in real life and he's a mate anyhow. with no mrs i would feel like a right plum. if there were plenty of single women in attendance it'd be a different story, but lets face it, sausage fest! hehe

one day though.

Poor excuse, especially from someone who fights fights alongside squirrels for a living!

On my first BTaP I only knew one person, until surprisingly, I met a load more at the car park at Wooley Edge (God that does not seem like six years, five cars, four Le Mans, two MegaHoons, two Spanish road trips, five house parties, about a dozen nights out, twenty Dawn Raids and fifty pub meets ago!)

... anyway, I then went on to meet even more people (even Mungo!) when I got to the hotel bar. That's how it works smile

Here you go Rich biggrin

And I seem to remember BTaP 2004 being a particularly good year too (if we disregard the vote rigging hehe )

I remember being introduced to Mrs Fish and her first words were "ah Burriana, cheeky boy!" … which seeing as I am some years older than her, I took as a compliment hehe

Anyone who does not go to what is a superb event purely because they do not think that they will know anyone, should get themselves down there.

I've had some fantastic times and memories over the last six years or so thanks to the members of PistonHeads, most which would not have been possible if I had worried about "not knowing anyone" smile
