Looks like this is going to go on for a while.

At what point do we get a Council Tax rebate?

They've had a private company do the bins around Moortown for the last couple of months so it's been OK here.

I've had mine done in Morley for the past three weeks now but some other areas of the town don't seem to have been touched, very odd.

I went as far as sending the council an email to thank them for the enhanced service, the new chaps are polite, quiet, drive at a sensible speed in narrow residential areas and most importantly put the bin back where they found it.

I have the misfortune of walking through Hyde Park once a week. It is truly horrific in there: freshers + beer + pizza - bin emptying service = utterly disgusting. Not too bad round our way though.

I would sack the bleeding lot of them, gets on my nerves how unions get involved and encourage strike action - get back in the real world - if you dont like your job or your conditions then go and get another job - if not shut up and get on with it, its not exactly a hard job pushing a bin to the back of a truck and then throwing it sideways down someones drive

I think its the alleged 33% pay cut that some of them are upset about really.

We're in Churwell and been done once in 5 weeks now although Friday is our Bin Day so they may turn up yet.

Last week was the first time since the strikes started.

No luck on the CT Rebate though. It says so on the Council website.

The 33% paycut is not actually a pay cut as such - its related to there working hours and not a drop in scale, I think at moment they gain about 10 hours per week for some reason and that is being pulled back

Our black bins got collected late this afternoon. Guys even collected bins from peoples doors rather than simply those left on the street. Might explain why they were so late though.

We need our Green bin doing now however.

Things like this really piss me off.

Maybe the bin men have a valid case - I don't know and I'm not really that interested.

Maybe it's political - again I don't care.

However, I pay the Council £1300 a year for services including bin emptying.

If the Council can't deliver their obligation to get my bins emptied then the motherfkers should give me a rebate of part of that money.

(Bit cross about the fact that joe public gets shat on all the time - apologies)

We still haven't had ours emptied we were assured last week that all bins would be collected by last Sunday.
Were they fk!!!

Getting very pissed off, wouldn't give a toss if every striking bin was sacked.

Can't actually see that it says no rebate on the Council website.

I thought it was all about salary equalisation between men and women that the unions have been harping on about..be careful what you wish for...

A few questions before the end of the page.

Tomorrow is the day for me so we'll see what happens otherwise it's another trip to the tip on Monday.

Seems unfortunate if you dont live near a councillor you're screwed. Barwick and Scholes look clean as a whistle and places like Beeston and Headingley left to rot.

You must live in the wrong part of Moortown, mine have been emptied. (although it is an industrial type bin at some flats)

From the comments following a Daily Wail article today about recycling and Labour proposing £1000 fines for those who fail to do so properly:

"This is ridiculous.
Surely the point of paying council tax is to get our rubbish removed. It provides employment for those unpleasant little binmen, probably keeping their verminous children in tracksuits and their wives stuffed with takeaway pizza. Surely we can give our unwanted food to the homeless and let them have our cardboard boxes so as they can build those sweet little cities you see undernearth railway bridges that I see when I'm coming home from the Opera."
