As the title says, we are having a little gathering involving beer, bars and possibly a kebab to finish us off. The format is simple, we will get to Hull having eaten first, so that's one thing less to worry about, and proceed to get drunk!

Us lot from around Howden will probably get the train in and organise a large taxi back about 2am.

And as I know the question will be asked about other halves; all I can say is that it is a night out on the beer (and Stu's unoffical head wetting, or something like that)

In time honoured tradition, copy, inc. the bold bit, add your name and re-paste.

Date: Saturday 5th December
Place: Hull and the bars and clubs therein

Was just about to ask what day that is, but Saturday the 5th may be some kind of hidden clue. Gimme a while and I'll work it out!

Yeah, count me in - its about time I met some Phers and given the fact I've lived here for 3yrs now I should really have a night out in Hull.

It may make it easier for you if you go to the November pub meet first, then you're not turning up from cold not knowing anyone.

Which one? The Easty Yorks pub meet one that has been stickied near the top of the forum for the last year? hehe

Stu, Hull has more bars than Goole or York and we thought it might be good fun for a change.

Iain - more than happy for you to ask the question please. We would be going back to Howden and Goole but having said that, there may only be three of us so no need for a mini-bus. Either way, it would be a nice run for someone. We're not so much bothered about finding the cheapest, but the most reliable. Would one of the normal cab Cos do a run to Goole on the spur of the moment do you think, to save us having to set a time to be somewhere?

There is a Holiday Inn on the Marina which is across the road and a short walk from The Sugar Mill nightclub.

Also an IBIS nearer the station (10 mins walk from old town) with another Holiday Inn there.

A new Premier Inn is just off the main road near the Deep, a five minute walk from Hull old town smile

Bloody hell Pet... if you're trying to show Phil the Ruf North, you've picked the perfect night out for it - a Mal Maison you will not find in Hull hehe

this night isn't intended as the Yorkshire Christmas night out by the way or to substitute the normal Leeds night out. A few of us were going out for a few beers anyway and we just decided to push to boat out and go upmarket... as opposed to Goole smile

Seeing as I'm living in Hull now and not a man to turn down a drink, I'll pop along for one or two... or more...

Is the Sugar Mill Club what used to be the old Water Mill? I'm guessing it must be, big three or four storey job over looking Princess Quay? Seems a perfectly suitable place to finish the evening yes

Ooooh, a Leeds night, now that would be a better plan. Who's organising and when?

Yes.

It probably is the best finishing point given it has a variety of rooms. The change of name seems to have gone together with the purchasing of more seats within the club.

There used to be cheap entry from the adoining Tunnel Bar too. If it is still open, beware the UV lights anyone with dusty clothing hehe.

There was V-Bar, which is a couple of minutes away but it has been renamed to something else, "Churchills" I think and gone downhill supposedly.

Near the college is Pozition, probably the most upmarket club in the city (a LA's replacement) but last time I was in there I was early 30's and felt old in there!

I would recommend ending up in Sugar Mill on a Saturday night. Pozition is good but I feel old in there (I'm 28). As for hotels I would use the new Holiday Inn Express or the Ibis. Alternatively there is a "Village" hotel in Hessle just on the A63. A taxi at the end of the night to Hessle will cost you about £6 and that is by far the best hotel of the lot (5* i believe?).

As for pubs, stick to the old town: Revolution, Jaz, Baracuda and the bars around the old market. DO NOT be tempted to stray into the new town, it is like down town Baghdad!

Good luck.
