I am trying to organise a series of General Introduction / Fund Raising Lectures on the subject of the Bloodhound SSC Project.
The first will be at Church Fenton, Nr Tadcaster on TBD January 2010, probably on a Sunday lunchtime at the Sunar Bangla Restaurant (above the Railway Stn).
The Bloodhound SSC is a British, privately funded project. It has 3 engines; a V12 race car engine, a EJ200 Typhoon/Eurofighter Gas Turbine and a Rocket Motor!
If this 1000mph project is of interest to you, and this is for all age groups, then please contact myself - in the first instance - as a preliminary 'head count'.
A buffet can be supplied.
It will not be loads of OHP's - but practical information from a Bloodhound STEM Ambassador. Thanks, and a Merry Christmas

My car club looked into having a bloodhound talk but baulked at how much Noble would charge! It was way out of our league to risk the club funds on a booking. We thought that even if we only charged £10 a head (which would almost certainly deter spouses/partners from coming) we'd struggle to sell the 200 tickets needed just to cover Noble's fees. And at that level we'd also need to hire a suitable venue. So we'd need to sell around 250 tickets just to break even.
However if you are in a position to provide a free talk or around the tenner a head level then I'd be interested subject to the usual other commitments.

That sum would be about right. I would however, need to know fairly accurate numbers so that a suitable date could be set. Please do continue to post your interest - we could even provide a starter or complex type of lecture; dependant on the number of 'Technocrats' intending to 'listen in'. Clive

As per Paul's post above. I spent a highly entertaining half hour chatting to Richard Noble, but couldn't talk him down much. The man who holds the purse strings wasn't prepared to release that kind of money from the Club, and understandably so. Keep us posted anyway, I'm well up for attending.

All is set, bar the fixing of a date. It is best if we have no more than 30 at a time please. First come first served. If the interest is forthcomming for a second lecture, at the same venue, then details will be posted via this thread. Many thanks for those showing a positive interest - please do spread the word and make this happen. Clive

I'm a 1k Club member anyway but this sounds like a good doo so I'm interested, plus, the food at Nidge's place is absolutely superb so if we can tie it up with a spot of Ruby Murry as well.......

Maths is not my strong point but the earlier posts in this thread suggest a fee of around 2 and a half grand for an appearance by Mr Noble, split between 30 max attendees makes this a dear dooo.

Am I reading the thread incorrectly? I hope so.

Edit ; Just read it again and it could suggest the sum of a tenner a head is about right. Either way a bit of clarification would be nice.

Agreed. The way I read it is that Richard Noble wouldn't himself be there, but one of the Bloodhound STEM Ambassador's. I thought it was a complimentary evening for enthusiasts and people looking to potentially invest in the project.

Anyway, awaiting clarification.

I am the Bloodhound STEM Ambassador. I am trying to raise both awareness of and funds for Bloodhound SSC.
The offered figure of a tenner sounded good from my perspective - I didnt want to project this as a 'freebee' 10 minute chat aimed at boys who dont know what an Otto Cycle is.
I will answer whatever questions I can, as best I can and hope others might take an interest and indeed invite them to become 1K Members.
I very much hope that answers your question.
I am trying to price a 'Generic' Buffet that will not a) make the event too pricy and b) frighten people away.

If an Otto Cycle is not something that would be used in the 3km pursuit or the Kieran by a German chap then it looks like I'm out.

If you accept attendence by heathens then just give me the date and time and I'll be there.

I'm very interested in attending one of these meets - as described above, I've taken steps towards organising one of Noble's talks for my local car club. Unfortunately this weekend isn't convenient. Please PM me if you have chance - I'll make every effort for the next event.
