Just seems to fit the bill for the wife and me as a future place to live.

Apart from the power station nearby, and the motorway (which seems to go very quiet on a night anyway), are there any downsides to living there?
Just that there are some nice houses in and around that location, and the prices seem pretty reasonable for what you can get vs say Aberford/Barwick/Sherburn areas for the same money (ie, not alot)

Just having a look for now but we would like to move smile

Seriously, your thinking of moving to eggborough??? IMHO its a dive, and you would be far better off looking at somewhere like burn(just up the road a bit) or south of the m62 say at whitley bridge. Having said that, its down to personal preference i guess, and if you like eggboghorror, then go for it.

Hehe, well I don't know if I like Eggborough, hence the questions biggrin

Also considering any of the villages in that 1.5 mile radius kinda area, as the general area seems quite good for a value for money kinda perspective.

Mainly making sure that the power station doesn't keep you awake at night with rumbling or vibration, or the railway track running massive coal trains doesn't shake your house apart etc biggrin

I guess you'd have to look at every house on it's individual location/merits. You can often go 250 yards down the road from nice houses and it's a ste hole smile

You cant hear the power station at all. I was as far from the railway line as you could get and you could hear the trains, they weren't intrusive though.

Oh yes!

One good thing was a group of teenage children who approached the council for support to take on a litter pick, flower bed maintenance and further youth club provision.
Nice to see them taking part - maybe a sign of an improving local society?

Prices seem to be higher further out in some of those places, and commuting time would go up more the further from the M62 you go. Being right on an M62 junction is what makes it work really well. Cripes, if I could jump on and off the train at the right place, it'd be a 500 yard walk to work hehe

Good old trains though, it carries on 3 miles past where I work. Doh!

Then surely if that was the case, it would either be eggbridge, or whitleyborough?
