Eggborough, nice place?
Discussion
Just seems to fit the bill for the wife and me as a future place to live.
Apart from the power station nearby, and the motorway (which seems to go very quiet on a night anyway), are there any downsides to living there?
Just that there are some nice houses in and around that location, and the prices seem pretty reasonable for what you can get vs say Aberford/Barwick/Sherburn areas for the same money (ie, not alot)
Just having a look for now but we would like to move

Seriously, your thinking of moving to eggborough??? IMHO its a dive, and you would be far better off looking at somewhere like burn(just up the road a bit) or south of the m62 say at whitley bridge. Having said that, its down to personal preference i guess, and if you like eggboghorror, then go for it.
Hehe, well I don't know if I like Eggborough, hence the questions
Also considering any of the villages in that 1.5 mile radius kinda area, as the general area seems quite good for a value for money kinda perspective.
Mainly making sure that the power station doesn't keep you awake at night with rumbling or vibration, or the railway track running massive coal trains doesn't shake your house apart etc
I guess you'd have to look at every house on it's individual location/merits. You can often go 250 yards down the road from nice houses and it's a s
te hole

i love comments from people who dont know the facts eggborough/whitley brige is all one place to be honest with the m62 going through the middle nice place to live got a couple of nice pubs shops post office garage ect the outlying villages are a bit quieter depends what you want i am sure burianni will comment as he lived in whitley bridge5yearstobuyatvr said:
I would avoid Eggborough,Pollington,Hensall,Snaith,Burn, would be on my radar.
Prices seem to be higher further out in some of those places, and commuting time would go up more the further from the M62 you go. Being right on an M62 junction is what makes it work really well. Cripes, if I could jump on and off the train at the right place, it'd be a 500 yard walk to work Edited by 5yearstobuyatvr on Thursday 4th February 12:16

Good old trains though, it carries on 3 miles past where I work. Doh!
