"Rock" bars in Leeds - suggestions please
Discussion
I have a colleague over from Ireland for a few weeks and he's asked for suggestions on city centre area "rock" bars in Leeds. I'm ashamed to say I don't get out much these days so my input has been a bit limited to Rios and the Cockpit.
Are there any other within easy walking distance of the Merrion Centre area that I should point him towards?
I tend to be happy enough with somewhere that is quiet and sells real ale, the music doesn't really come into it unless it's really bad - he just wants cheap booze and heavy music. Oh to be young again

Your help would be appreciated.
I'd just go Call Lane and choose from the selection that are there, including one called "rock bar" next to Elbow Rooms.
I particularly enjoyed my few minutes in Neon Cactus on Saturday.
Actually, there is also Nation of Shopkeepers which is where Courtyard used to be. They do live bands, although they can be a bit abstract.
