After one solid week of Le Mans withdrawal and serious depression I decided to spend this glorious day in the Sag. OMG, I'd forgotten just how good this road is. Hadn't done it since retiring my motorcycle 2 years ago. What a blast!!! I'd completely forgotten just how challenging this piece of road is at speed. Got to Hawes with my hands wringing wet and a heart rate equal to an hour on the crosstrainer. It has everything. Fast straights, sweeping curves, tight bends, blind humps, gravity force stoops. Burrilllianttt!!!! Had to do it back & forth, 4 times in total, to the point where my driving skill was writing cheques my car didn't wanna cash! Don't you just love living in God's Country?

Well my post LM depression has been slightly lifted by booking tickets for Silervstone Classic and an urge to do Le Mans Classic as a last minute trip (after I sold my tickets 3 weeks ago).

It is a grat road isn't it? I can't see why Buttertubs is better. Good visability and road surface on the Ribblehead road means flowing corners that "tubs" can't equal IMO.

Infact I think I'll have a trip over tomorrow.

Last time I rode the 6255 on the way out of Hawes towards Layburn a Hercules came low down the valley. It was a proper Top Gun moment biggrin

Does anyone have a decent route for this area? smile

Went up a couple of months back but didnt see too much due to my osf wheel trying to part company with the car. rolleyes

Can remember seeing 1 very commited biker up there. Thank god me and my mate had stopped for a breather, he was using as much of the road as we had being.

Must thank you for bringing this road to my attention, OP. Absolutely astounding piece of macadam. I did all 17 miles, turned round and went straight back again. It was the highlight of a 200 mile hoon about North Yorkshire today. Thank you!
