I have the best commute in the world, over the North Yorkshire Moors. After 2 years of driving it I have noticed I see the same cars fairly regularly. Lots of 'cooking' models conservatively pottering along, but some varying-degrees-of-more-interesting metal being driven with verve, including:

Dark Grey E46 M3
Silver/Grey previous generation Civic Type R
Silver Vectra SRI
White Audi A4 2.0 TDI
Grey BMW 330 E46 Convertable
Black mk4 Golf GT TDI 130 (caned everywhere, generally well though)

These are just the regulars I see at the times I head to/from work but anyone who drives this route feel free to shout up- it's always nice to have a few friendly headlight flashes and a wave every now and again!

Think I've seen your Griff parked up there before. Never eaten at the Lion- mean to though as the food is meant to be very good.

As I drive it twice a day haven't done a dawn raid on The Ridge in ages, you'll have to let me know next time you're out to play...

I'm up there pretty often, my g/f's family are all from Castleton and Danby and I love that road, and of course The Lion!

I'm also up there reasonably frequently on photoshoots for the Porsche mags plus Octane, Evo etc.

I'm definately a 'learner' when it comes to photography- just got our first SLR, so was planning a bit of a photographic tour of North Yorkshire with the Fiancee this weekend. Will be aiming to capture landscapes rather than cars though, but if some tasty metal were to wander into the viewfinder I wouldn't necessarily try to resist... depneds who's holding the camera really.

I believe I may have seen you in the past at Burke-Brow, or as me and my friends call it 'The Karousel'. I think I'd followed from Castleton- is you car occasionally parked up there as I see a immaculate 172 Cup fairly regularly?

My journey normally takes me onto the Moors via Ayton and then joining Blakey just after Castleton, so most likely someone else. I'll keep an eye out for you though.

Pea-souper fog ruined the last few early morning jaunts over there, it must be pretty interesting drive through the winter isn't it?

No kidding. I have to go via Helmsley when it's really bad. Got some 'snow socks' after the horrendous winter this year, yet to try them out properly though.

Not a regular but I often go there for a play. Does anyone else think this road is MUCH better when heading north rather than south? Oh, and the Cockayne loop road... Mmmmm lovely.
