I'm heading out tonight with my lady friend and we're looking for areas of natural beauty in and around leeds.

We've been exploring various places lately and enjoying the scenery and tonight is my choice, but I'm drawing a blank

Any suggestions?

Cow and calf rocks just outside ilkley are a decent spot for a picnic. The road over the moors from Shipley/Baildon to ilkley is a cracking drive as well!

So where did you end up dude? Being Leeds-domiciled, but not Leeds-bred, I was going to suggest -

- Kirkstall Abbey (usefully local)
- Roundhay Park
- Goldenacre Park

Doubtless all rather facile...

We ended up sat on the high peak looking over yorkshire and indeed LBIA then went for a drive through Otley and onto a friends house for a bit before heading home.

We've done the Abbey, Bolton abbey but it was too dark to go to the river. Gargrave, Ilkley, Cow and Calf, but not the rocks...next on the list!

Might be doing Knaresborough soon

Hire a rowing boat at Knaresborough and show off your man skills as you power up the Nidd. After that head to Ripley, get an ice cream, wander the village and go to the Boars Head for dinner.

Also, Alms Cliffe Crag (near North Rigton). Pateley Bridge (go to Brimham Rocks), take the Pateley to Otley road - it's good fun. Call in for a pie from Weegmans on the way back through Otley, after a treat like that you'll never sleep alone again!

Funny you should say that as you've just listed half of my next plan rofl

Rowing boat at Knaresborough is on the list followed by some photos and a walk, then onto Ripley for ice cream and a walk around the grounds of the Castle

Haworth is well worth a visit. The very pretty little town where the Brontes lived.

Go to Knaresborough!

Maybe stop at the Tiger Inn at Coneythorpe for some pub grub?

York is always good, too.
