Contractor Accountant West Yorks - know a good one???
Discussion
Well, the obvious one would be Darren Upton in Wakefield, but without naming and shaming(oops!) have a read of this first and make your own mind up... http://www.fsa.gov.uk/pages/library/communication/... This story supposedly doesn't affect the accountancy business - although for me it does, because he's scheduled to pay the FSA £10k a month for the next 7 years, and he owes me a lot of money from the scheme.
Having said that, the practice itself is pretty good, and Darren is a regular contributor on ContractorUK and does specialise in contractor type accounts.
I would question why location is particularly important though... most, if not all, relevent work can be done by email and telephone, there are (in my experience anyway) very few things that require a face to face.
You might also get more opinions on this in the Finance or Business sections

And another thing - 85% take home is a very 'aggressive' target. The only ways I think you can achieve this is either by shoving everything you take into pension, or by having about 50% of the income going on expenses. Of course, the more you earn the harder it is to get the necessary expenses; so, it's easier to hit 85% if your rate is really low - which is kind of counter-productive, no? I would also expect HMRC to see a bloody great "LOOK AT ME" sign on your tax profile if you got anywhere like 85%
However, YMMV, IANAA, etc....

no particular reason on geographic, want someone that is recommended as there are a lot of fancy accountant websites where the companies are run by muppets, and if they are local then all the better.
80-85% is an achievable target on £80k year earnings, a creative accountant should get the tax-able profit down a lot and stick most through expenses, pensions, salary etc
