Sheffield - English meal out for ten. Any suggestions?
Discussion
Sorry for any forum etiquette faux pas if I've done one, but I read Pistonheads a lot more than I post here.
Christmas is looming and I need to organise a good meal out for ten near Sheffield, English style food, not too budget but not too pricey either. £10-15 main meal methinks, and I have no idea where to go.
I know a busy forum who generally knows about such things, even if I risk looking like a tool posting this question there/here.
Any Sheffield Pistonheaders willing to help me please

The Cross Scythes at Totley has recently won a national award for its food:

I've not eaten there myself yet but I have heard good things about it.

Probably my favourite Sheffield restaurant – last time we went it cost over £50 a head once we'd raided the fabulous wine list!StuB said:
What about that place that was on Ramsey recently? Looked very appealing to me and a good take on English cuisine.
Milestone it's called.
HTH & please let us know if you go.

bookings are up 80% since being on Ramsey's so I think you'll struggle. The o/h has been to Christians a couple of times and said its brilliantMilestone it's called.

Christians is also very nice, but I reckon you'll be at the top end of your price list going there.
As others have said, it's difficult thinking of somewhere good that's "English"...Italian, Tapas, Indian are all easy. However, I've not been myself recently but I've heard a lot of people rave about the food at Napoleons on Eccy Road. I think they do a set menu which is very reasonably priced and if you're going in the week, they throw in a free 10 quid bet too (so I've been told)
Oh and the place he went to a couple of years ago was Silversmiths, formerly known at Runaway Girl.
