Hi All,

Got a lot of driving to do this week, some of which is in the Yorkshire region.

Can anyone tell me whether i'm weeing into the wind trying to get to the following places:

From the St Helens area to Settle,

then Settle to Armthorpe, nr Donny,

then from Armthorpe to Normanton, then back home?

Will be over Tuesday/Wednesday.

Cheers!

All the major roads between Armthorpe and Wakefield have been gritted so really just depends on what happens with the snow fall tonight...

Unless it snows heavily tonight there should be no problem.

I've just driven down from Scotland this morning and all roads have been clear.

i would have thought the only grey area would be your journey from the m6 to settle, and from there to keighley-ish. if the dales gets snow like the rest of the country, then you better get a good book!

keighley to donny, to normy and back home should be a doddle.

i live in east yorks which has been murder all weekend. i went to leeds sunday afternoon and the snow ended, save for a token effort, before goole. today it was heavy all the way to work in doncaster. people coming from wakey turned back but i suspect they are poofs.

all the motorways will be clear, i passed a couple of snowploughs on my way in and the surface was fine apart from the outside lane. you're more likely to be delayed simply due to traffic or a crash, seems to be one every day on the m18 at the moment.

I drove from Settle to Leeds in the snow last night. It was slow going (20-30 mph) as there was quite a line of cautious drivers but perfectly driveable at those speeds.

If they were on the m62 at approx 7am I can understand why they turned back, 30mph on the m62 in a blizzard, all 3 lanes completely white over, all the way from pontefract through to m18 and about half way to m180 turning (I was heading from j27 to shorpe)

Lots of snow in North Wakefield (and no they aren't poofs, just people who don't especially want to get to work hehe ). Probably 3-4 inches deep, but very very wet and I would imagine as soon as dawn arrives then it will mostly melt. I would guess that your destination in Normanton will be pretty close to the M62, which will be very well maintained.

No real problems to report from Normanton to Leeds. Bit of slush on the roads, especially in the fast lane but that should be gone soon

In a similar vein I am in Leeds at the moment and could do with getting home to Doncaster on Thursday.

Anyone in and about the donny area able to give me an overview of how it is looking?

I have been told it has gotten very bad tonight

what time will you be travelling? I work in dn4 and my boss lives in leeds so if he's in ill assume all is good. tbh all the motorways have been easy, just allow extra travel time as average speed is 50-60 in all lanes.
