Hi,

Does anyone have a hour or two to spare to help me recover my car. I will donate numerous beer tokens to the saviour of my poor car. It's currently on parkway drive/avenue roundabout and I'm heading to Pomona street of eccleshall road.

Thanks!

Ross

Can't help, sorry, but I need to get to Ecclesall Road tomorrow so if you could let us know what it's like when you get there that'd be most useful.

Good luck out there.

Thanks,

I walked back to Eccleshall road last night, my car has been there over night.

As of now it is snowing here but Eccleshall road is clear. The roads off Eccleshall can only be described as treacherous.

I'll update you later tonight and when I get up in the morning, but I'm due a lie in so it may be late morning.

Good luck on your trip!

Cheers. I was a bit optimistic about the car before - it doesn't move anymore. 2 feet of snow is too much for a Multipla it seems, as I discovered when I finally had the idea of shifting it to the main road.

Irritatingly that main road is only 100 yards away, and is perfectly passable, for now at least. My neighbour and I have a plan to dig to it tomorrow, and preferably flag down someone with a 4x4 while we're at it.

Fun times. Glad you got back.

Where are you? I've a free day.

I can't imagine driving in this weather at all. I was stupid to do it yesterday. Good job I'm not adverse to walking!

A friend had a landie but it was stolen a few days ago. Devastating

Cheers, but I live in Rotherham for my sins; I have to get to Ecclesall Road for work. I'm sat here, watching it snow and kicking myself for not parking on the main road. My neighbour actually moved his car last night to be outside his house and is even more annoyed at himself! I could get traction earlier, but just not enough to shift the car and the great tidal wave of snow it was ploughing - winter tyres aren't *that* good!

I've seen all sorts going down the main road - from an off-road converted Dicso to a Peugeot 206, so I know that is fine, especially as I have the winters on. It's just that first 100 yards that's going to take the time. I have a plan that involves an 8x2 foot piece of MDF I've had in the shed for a bit, thinking it might be useful. I reckon if I cut it in to four pieces (4x1) I can drive to the main road 4 foot at a time. It's not even 100 yards, actually. If I drive straight across the green it's only 50.

Will let you know how I get on!

Sounds like a cracking plan, seems to me it could be a day long project thread that should be posted up on here!

If you get stuck in Eccleshall road tomorrow I'm around all day, as a pair of hands but not much else!

I can't vouch for the condition of the roads from hunters bar upwards. but there was a light smattering on the road a second ago, I only saw one car braving it.

Good luck tomorrow

Cheers. The neighbour and I have decided we're getting our car and his van out no matter what. I'm self employed and he doesn't have much holiday left. If it gets ridiculous I'll take some pictures.

If I get stuck on Eccy Road I can always kip at the mother-in-laws, but might let you know if I get 'recoverable-stuck' to avoid that fate!

Living in Rotherham and a potential night at the Mother-In-Laws? You sir, have sinned!

biggrin

There is supposedly blizzard like conditions in the morning around this area. Watch out for that.

It's out! And so is the neighbours van, but to do that we had to move our other car - so three shifted. Finding somewhere to park here it wouldn't immediately get stuck again was a challenge though.

Supermarket first, then will think about Sheffield.

Glad you made it out! It was not too bad yesterday.

Managed to recoved my car as well, I was worried about it being in Attercliffe, but it was all there!

Excellent news - just the ice to deal with now! I am on Ecclesall Road for the first time in three days though, so all is good.
