morning all,

i have a job interview tomorrow at a firm based on the industrial estate at normanton [jn 31?]. it's a contract role so am hoping for some flexibility on working hours to avoid the traffic.

can anyone tell me where the queue's usually start and from what time they become a problem? i've only ever commuted the other way when i lived in leeds and seem to remember it getting heavy from jn32-33 area.

cheers.

I assume you mean e/b?

I do that route each morning around 07.20 and come off at Normanton. I join at the M606 and the queues are usually starting to form from ~ Hartshead Moor by then. It is usually moving at a reasonable pace (esp if you are in outside lane thus avoiding cars joining from the M606) and once the M621 is passed there are no probs as traffic flows freely. It takes me about 15 mins to get from the M606 to Normanton turn off.
The traffic obviously builds up a little later in the morning, if you are travelling from J23/J24 then you may have traffic issues as that bit is slow from 08.15+ in my experience.

IMO it is much worse returning home anytime after 16.30ish with queues sometimes between the M1 and Ikea!

no, i mean westbound, coming from the eastern wastelands hehe

i used to commute leeds > scunny and joined at jn32, there would be a sizeable queue on the opposite carriageway at that time.

its just something i want to bear in mind for if i'm offered the gig tomorrow so i can have my working hours written into the contract. i'd much rather get up an hour earlier to avoid sitting in traffic.

Can't say I have ever seen any on that side at between 07.30-08.00, but I'm usually taking more notice of leaving the motorway at that point smile

ETA: I should have read the OP properly where it says you lived in Leeds wobble
