I potentially have a car that will need to be scrapped in a few weeks, not worth putting through the MOT etc. I think it weighs around 1200kg, anyone know what I will get for it and where is a good place in York to go?

Also, can you literally just drive up or do you need to strip certain aspects of it?

£100/ton + £10/20/30 if it has good alloys, tyres, battery or recoverable audio system.

So far as I know, you just roll up at a scrappers with your ownership docs.

What is it? Just because you dont think it is worthwhile spending time/money on it someone else might think it is worth putting in the time. Or stick it on ebay, can be a good way of getting more than the £120 you will get for it as scrap.

Thought scrap value had increased lately? More so if there's a cat on it?

I got £214 for a mk2 Mondeo with the cat about 2 weeks ago. Think it was about £160 a tonne.

Scrapped a horrible ciroen xsara a coulple of months back got £145 for it.
Found a place on line which gave me a range of offers. Took the best which was acme in HOSM not far from York. Rang them up, left the keys and they took it away whilst i was at work. left the logbook signed up through the letter box along with a cheque. Simple.

Even got a written destruction order from DVLA via email.
