Guys i asked this once before but hope that perhaps there's someone out there that can help....am planning a road trip and have a rough route already planned that brings us to near Knaresborough. From there we are travelling to Holmfirth....we're on a tour so want to find decent roads ( not main road/dual carriageways ) - we're in 7's so nice twistys/interesting is the order of teh day.
Can anyone recommend some roads between Those 2 places?
thx Mark G

NCC - Thanks for that.....
in general we'll prob have 2-2.5 hours and in reality we may be a tad north of Knaresborough - effectively we're coming down from Whitby on this leg. I've been told some good roads to do through the Moors ( which owing to a pc crash i hope i can find once again )....but it was always the final bit that was a bit unknown.

Adding to that route posted,

Head to Skipton.
Go to Carlton, which is to the SW of Skipton, and pick up the back road to Foulridge nr Colne.
Just before Foulridge cut across the A6068 past Wycoller and head to Haworth.

You could always stop off at The Old Silent Inn at Stanbury just before Haworth.

HTH.

Really like this route. Would go all the way to Skipton over Blubberhouses fab road if not too busy.

Keighley could be a bit of a mare.

Love the drive from Rishworth through Saddleworth and over Greenfield to Holmfirth.

When are you doing the trip I love 7 type cars would enjoy seeing a few in my home town. Are you staying / where are you staying in Holmfirth or just passing through?

There is talk on the other thread about the 6105 and the 6024. Two great roads worth a drive but depending on where you go after Holmfirth you could do 6024 then 6105 then 57 snake pass another fine road if not too busy.

Might join you for a beer as long as you wouldn't be embarresed to have the capri parked amongst the 7's

Once in Holmfirth, Its worth a run up to Holme Moss then on to Glossop. Take a left on to the Snake Pass then back over Strines Moor, down to New Mill and back to Holmfirth. An excellent run out not to be missed whilst your in the area

Wow that route sounds fantastic Rage, maybe we sould call it the "Oopnurthring" wink

Edit:- I thought I'd add don't go from New Mill back to Holmfirth (A616) instead turn left at the roundabout and go along woodhead pass (A628) you'll then get to go back to Holmfirth along the A6024 in the other direction smile

Rage/Game - OK that look favorite for a pre-run early morning blat - but can i ask you where abouts i'd be going after Smake pass/a57? i can see the 616 and the option of doing the 6024 in reverse, but how far down the a57 would we go? all the way to Walkley or aree there some decent roads through the area around Bradfield? cant tell from gmaps if those roads are farmtracks or sensible twistys?
many thx
mark

Travel along the A57 until you reach Mortimer road, it's about a mile after the Ladybower inn.

Just be aware the junction from the Woodhead pass onto the Holme Moss road going towards Manchester is very tight on a couple of blind bends be very careful!!!!!!!!!

Well said that man.. You then get to experience Holme Moss both ways, up and down each side, each way. I used to have to go down to New Mill and throught to Brockholes as i'd be low on juice by that point. 13 litre tank in the Rage!

I have a video of me in the Rage with a nervous passenger going up to the summit from Holme. Then down the Derbyshire side. Not sure i can post it on here though. Maybe i can put it up for a limited time? I don't want to be getting a knock on the door from the boys in blue.
