Incident of Road Rage - 21/03 on A59 near Harrogate
Discussion
I'm posting on behalf of my son Nick, as he was the victim of a road rage incident yesterday on the A59, leaving Harrogate. A white Ford Focus, reg. V241GWH, overtook dangerously, cutting Nick up and forcing him to brake sharply and blow his horn. The passenger of the Focus began giving hand gestures from the car, and then beckoned Nick to pull over. When Nick stopped, the passenger jumped out (a male) and smashed a bottle through the passenger windscreen, showering Nick and his 3 other occupants with glass. He then ran off and was driven from the scene by the female driver of the Focus. The police are involved (but as usual say they can't arrest the driver as she didn't take part in the damage to Nick's car), but Nick needs the address of the vehicle for his insurance company to chase up recovering the cost of a new window. If anyone can help please contact me,
Thanks,
Tony
Thanks,
Tony

How was Nick "forced" to blow his horn?
And why stop in this situation?
Yes pedantic I know but are you sure you have the full story?
Also why are you trying to trace the car? If making a claim then your insurance company has the means to do so.

Perhaps I worded that wrong. Obviously he wasn't forced to blow his horn, but did so not only to make the driver aware of his presence, but also to show his annoyance at the other driver's dangerous act (there was a van coming the other way; if he hadn't braked then there was a real chance of an RTA). As for if I have the full story, I've heard it from 2 of the passengers in the car, as I had to go and collect him from college yesterday.
As to why he stopped, that's down to him. I think he probably expected a small discussion with the other driver about their driving, not a loon to put a bottle through his window!
Sorry to hear your son was involved in a road rage incident. I feel it's quite likely that something happened just prior to this, as there is often a build up to them. I'd strongly suggest advising your son to reconsider use of the horn or gestures as a rebuke. He might want to consider that even giving eye contact can enrage a situation.
God what pathetic replys to the OP, instead of been constructive all you do is basically slate her son for going 'beep', I thought it was just the Porsche forum that was full of such Liberal muppets, get a grip and offer some advice to the initial question or dont bother.
Early morning post rage over, how refreshing.

Without being there I don't know how we can judge. Any of you guys actually witness it? Neither did I.
WTF are you on, you were the one judging....Why were you so QUICK to comment on particular parts of the OP's post but not others, seems strange that you comment on the son blowing his horn but nothing about the bottle going through the window,if your gonna make arguments be constructive or statments that are rounded and well judged not spout the pathetic prattle that you originally came out with!! If giving practical advice on avoiding escalation of these situations is deemed judgemental, then so be it.
Did you actually read the initial post before engaging prattle gear? Where did the OP ask for any advice on avoiding escalating these situations? Do you read through your previous posts before prattling again?? If so, kindly advise how your statment, 'which nutter' is practical advice as opposed to been judgemental, you sir are a prattler... Please shorten Prattler as required.Ah its so easy to see how road rage can happen
Just look at this keyboard rage
Re the OP
You can get a form at the post office to apply for keeper details
However I have to say that I dont think theres much that can be angled at the driver re the assault? she didnt do it?
Could be argued she assisted? however if she denied any knowledge then Cps woldnt take it!

By heck, this got a bit out of hand a bit fast! Basically, we want the details of the driver as we were hoping we could try and prove they aided the criminal leave the scene of a crime, as the police don't seem to want to arrest her for that even though they could? Can we take her to court independently? She's also obstructing the police in an investigation if she refuses to name the passenger, which is also a crime.
As for my son's actions, maybe his actions weren't the best (although blowing his horn doesn't seem too stupid?). In hindsight he should have driven on, but hindsight is a wonderful thing!
