Can anybody recommend somebody to transport a car literally a mile down the road from where I'm potentially going to buy it from.

I know I could just do the yellow pages etc but the car hasn't moved in 11 years so if there are any recommendations of somebody who will be slightly sympathetic with the old thing it would be appreciated.

Oh and I'm guessing I'd be looking at a cost of about £50?

If you give graham a ring, he's done loads of cars for me and a friend Steve.
Tell him Chris gave you his number, I
think he knows more than one chris so tell him it's the chris he's collecting a cortina for tomorrow.
Great bloke and if you've got a car that hundreds of miles away that you want but don't have time to give it a good look over, he'll do that for you and hand the cash over!!
He must collect a car for me and a friend atleast once a week.

Cheers falkster. I'll give him a call.

_leg_ I'm in Allerton Bywater, just outside Castleford. The car is literally a mile up the road from me but as it hasn't moved for so long on guessing it will need to go on a flat bed.

I could help you out, I'm near Church Fenton so onny down the road (11 miles). My trailer is ramped though, would need at least 4 to push a car onto it I would think. I drive my Indy onto it. Bloody winch is broken too, typical. Pic below...

That's a very kind offer and obviously I would pay the beer tokens mentioned above!

I'm having a look at the car tonight and if everything isn't seized up which would make pushing it impossible I'll get back to you.

Thanks again.

Is this the 944 you talked about elsewhere that you wish to restore?

I'll lend a hand with a push and a shove onto the trailer if needed, because wouldn't mind having a look at the car - I really fancy a 924S/944 and wouldnt mind giving a hand if it meant I could get a realy good look at one.

I'm only just up the road in Garforth too.
If I can be of help, PM me and ill send you my mobile, I'll be able to lend a hand on a weekend or an evening if wanted.

It is indeed the 944. Thanks for the offer of help. I shall update everybody this evening on how the viewing goes and get in touch if needed.

Cheers guys!

Dont want any money mate. Whole point of the forum is to help out. I can stand 20 miles of diesel (wife's tiguan anyway haha). What goes around comes around IMO. :-)

Ill bring a tow rope too. If needs be we can unhitch the trailer and I can slowly, slowly catch a monkey tow the car onto the trailer.

Hope the car is good, if so, gis a shout.

Likewise, if you need an extra pair of hands or another tow vehicle then give me a shout. My parents live in Garforth so across that way regularly anyway.

Right guys, I've just got back from viewing the car (typical it decided to rain!) and I'm going to have to think about whether to buy it.

If I do, then it is seized solid and two of us couldn't make it move an inch so it might need a truck with a winch? By the morning I should hopefully have made a decision after asking some more questions on the Porsche section.

I'll keep you updated and thanks for all the offers of help so far!

If it's the pads stuck on the discs, maybe worth a soak in penetrating spray? Maybe not so easy if it's the rear handbrake shoes inside the discs.
