My friend is getting his car photographed for a magazine article and is in need of inspiration for where the guys can take some nice pics.

Anywhere in and around aberdeen or the shire.

I know there are plenty photographers here so any suggestions welcome.

I wondered about Stonehaven Harbour. Or somewhere near a river would be nice.

Any hidden gems we should know of?

I always think those shots you see of nice cars against contrasting run down or industrial buildings in the back ground look good.

Maybe somewhere down near the fish market?

Then you could maybe try around Fittie with the harbour entrance as a background.

Maybe also the beach if it's a nice day?

Cheers,

Eric smile

Fittie is a good idea, some very interesting buildings down there.

I've seen a few photos of cars outside Union Plaza.

The tunnel under Union Street:

The harbour, in any rough looking carpark:

Stonehaven Harbour:

Across from Harlaw School (you have to get lucky for this...):

The beach (for simple shots):

Infront of almost any building on Queens Road:

There's a nice place just past Newburgh about 10-15 mins from Bridge of Don, there are two layby's, the first one is easy to see, the 2nd one which is better is about 50 metres past it and concealed as you go round a corner. There's a width and height restriction but my Supra, my mates 350z, Hilux etc get through.

Quite a nice road out there as well.

Balmedie Beach? With the Dunes in the background.
A quick shot with mine;

Also, as Ricky said, Newburgh. And if you go another 5-10mins up the road, Collieston. Beautiful little village on the rocks.

I thought he'd already managed to sort out a shoot at a castle, or has that fallen through?

Only place I can think of is BoD industrial estate around Claymore Drive - some nice looking office blocks there.

Outside Union Plaza? Seen a fair number of cars shot there. The bollards can be removed to give access (but better check with security first wink)

Some great ideas for places. Here's one I used the other night if you want some sea/cliffs in the background:

Thanks for all the replies guys.

Cheers Pete for the extensive list. I remembered you doing the Gallardo at Stoney and thought it might be nice there.

I quite like that last cliff top one too. Cruden bay ish?!

Hopefully he can choose somewhere nice now.

All the rubble and stuff at the old bp site in Dyce being demolished would make an interesting industrial backdrop.

Cheers for the ideas folks.

I'm still waiting to hear back from the National Trust for Scotland, if i can use a castle as a backdrop. But at least i have other options.
