  • Copied from photography forum, however thought that they may be of interest to some of the local members. Regards, John.

Although I haven't been able to do much travelling (apart from river shot) I have managed to sneak around the local area to me and keep the camera active.

I'm looking forward to, after the baby arrives, getting out and about further afield smile

The shots below aren't anything special to behold however I have tried to push my thought process to every shot to beyond the usual point and shoot. All taken in RAW.

Here is a little summary of each shot as I'm aware that sometimes I just post and run which doesnt help the new guys starting out. smile

1. Shot from North Queensferry looking towards the Forth Rail Bridge on the River Forth just North of Edinburgh. Taken fairly wide angled, with a 0.6hard LEE grad, F/22. Most of shots are about 1 second exposure. In processing was RAW conversion, sharpen and de-saturation as I felt that was more in keeping with what I seen that murky night a few weeks ago.

2. Taken in woodland about 500 metres from my house. Probably one of my strongest pictures composition wise (imo,) I love looking at it. I spent two hours walking round in circles looking for this. Again with most of these it was about 24mm (full frame) with a 0.6 soft grad, f/22. RAW conversion, sharpen, and a little cyan removal.

3. This is a shot of the River Etive about a mile south west of Stob Dearg in Glencoe, Southern Highalnds. Again I love the detail, from the foreground to the far away waterfall that you can see below the treeline. Possibly bordering on too much happening, however I feel that each feature is imperative to the shot. 24mm, f/22, polarizer, a 0.6 hard grad, RAW conversion, lift of shadows, dust removal.

4.Forth Rail bridge from South Queensferry this time. Now I've had my LEE 10 stopper since January however only used it for the first time last month. Execution needs work however enjoy the simplicity in this, the opposite of the previous. A 0.6 hard grad, polarizer and the 10 stopper. RAW conversion, mono conversion and sharpen. Not perfect but learning myself on this one.

5. This was taken in the River CLyde basin near the world heritage village of New Lanark. A bit manic, and the foreground needs a tidy, but I hate doing too much to any photo so I'm going to come back to this at a later date and be selective. Just a subtle burst of bluebells. A 0.3 soft grad used, f/22. RAW conversion, sharpen and the green reduced slightly. Again, a little manic, however this was what I witnessed that day, and anything else wouldn't do the fury of the forest floor any justice.

All single exposures.

Thanks for looking and thanks to you all posting such inspirational work. The PH photography forum has honestly provided me with 95% of the knowledge I have today (and still the only photography forum i use today)

taken on a Kodak easy share, I feel the picture has a sharp point to it although it has a hairy aspect. Taken close, camera shake was prevalent. laugh

Absolutely cracking pictures although must pay more attention as in all of them you seem to have the car out of shot ;-)
