Hi everyone, the point of this thread is to share secret places, mostly restaurants. It will probably be a slow burner but what the feck. I will start with The Red Lion in Culross, lovely little place for food, they have a great deal for around 23 quid for starter, steak and desert... Please share

Edinburgh - Kublai Khan. "Monglolian" restaurant at the bottom of Leith Walk.

Familiar to the Edinlushers, but everyone outwith that group has said "where?" or "heard of it, never been".

Excellent value - 20 quid a head iirc and you can refill your bowl as many times as you like. Plus you can sample Zebra, Ostrich and Buffalo as well as the regular chicken, lamb and beef. Amongst others. Just don't bother with crocodile.

La Tropiero in Glasgow is excellent. We've been a number of times now and the service is second to none. The Meat is excellent as well. The Waiters/Waitresses come round with Skewers of different Meats and you can accept or decline a cut, and they keep coming!! Lol. I think they only do two sittings though, 6pm and 9pm, to give diners time.

I've been once, maybe 6 or 7 years ago, it was ok, nothing great, more of a novelty experience with the different kinds of meat and having it cooked in front of you.

The fact i haven't been back, probably says alot, well to me anyway

Quite a few people (whose opinions on food I rate) have recommended Tropiero lately. Looks like a proper ‘unknown gem’.

I’m on the side of Kublai Kahns being rubbish though. It’s fine as a novelty night out, but not a place to go for good food.

Loch Leven Seafood Cafe, on the north shore of Loch Leven. Quite expensive but well worth it and most of the menu was alive in the morning. Cracking drive to get there on a brilliant B-road.

Not food or drink but I found one this weekend whilst I was out and about exploring on my new bike Tolquhon Castle is between Pitmedden and Tarvis on the left hand side of the road as you head North. I've driven past the sign many times since I moved to the area 15 years ago but never went up to see it. If you get a chance, nip up and have a look. Very nice.
