Friend has bought himself a new car, his punto is needing some work and its not worth spending the cash on it to sort.
Last saturday, we went shopping to find a replacement and that took us across the central belt looking for cars that existed on autotrader land, but were sold in reality.
He has however bought himself this...

There is no evidence at all that i may or may not be partially responsible for such car being bought... biggrin

He goes into it, knowing fully the costs for running such a car and the slight (ahem) chance that it may go wrong. You would have thought that the bucketlander i have would have saw him off but he wants something big, comfy, has air con and can deal with the glorious mess that NLC claim are "roads"
Oh and coping with snow is another point as NLC appear to send thier gritters on holidays at winter..

He gets it from edinburgerlandshire today all going well.
It worryingly has the same tyres mine had when i got mine, 2 worn out michelins and 2 stty kumho budgets.. these are getting changed asap.

So if you see it in edinburgerlandshire, give him a toot/push. hehe

Just how bad/unreliable was his Punto that a Bucketlander Freelander is a step up...? wink

It's been pretty much faultless until march when it got new leads and coil packs.
5 years of ownership though so it's time for a change. I do question his logic but I find it funny at the same time. smile

I hope it's not a petrol! If he is looking for a Good independant for servicing etc. then White's in Washington Lane off Dalry Road (near Maplin) is as good as they get.

i hope they moved the cars and reversed it out that space. Not sure it would manage 'off roading' it accross the weedy edging onto the road. smile

Oi! Nothing wrong with the Freelanders off road capabilities, mine has been more than capable when put to serious use each winter. But I do hate the cable gearlinkage, the lack of feeling in the clutch, the driving position and the fact that it only has class 3 safety status. A Skoda Yeti is on the horizon!

Nothing wrong with freeby off road ability, ive had mine into areas that defenders couldnt get to, user error maybe. Dont expect miracles but mine has only failed me once in the snow due to poor tyres (now replaced) and said tyres didnt help in deep mud either. hehe

G, ive had 2 smashes in my freebys, both rear ended. Ive not been hurt in mine and the first was a lorry on black ice into it. Said freeby was insurance write off but its been fixed and is back on the road. I dont worry about its safety now. smile

New wagon has been collected, he is very happy with it. £78 on diesel and not an empty tank hehe
But that will last him a month at least as the miles he does is low.

just make sure he puts new tyres on the back.

ie fronts need replaced, rear tyres on the front then new on the rear.

I'm guessing from the pic this was purchased from a vehicle retailer in the Ferry Road area then ?
