In the meantime, an MOT for £19 available through KGB discount site - http://www.kgbdeals.co.uk/edinburgh/deals/39219

Is that not illegal?

I thought that the MOT test had to be the price set out by the government?

Also there is no way they would let you off with just a £19 bill. They would find somethig wrong with the car even if it was just wiper blades.

They're trying to expand so bring in new custom through this offer, place is a genuine family run garage rather than target driven fast fit. As I understand it they're taking the short term hit of doing the offer in the hope that new customers will return for servicing and repairs having been happy with their first visit.

Not true. I got a MOT throiugh Groupon for £22 or there abouts with another small garage. The car failed emissions due to having no Cat. I put the cat back on and they retested it and didn't even charge a retest fee. Smaller garages use these deals to get repeat custom and new customers.

big picture guys. i charge the full rate-unfortunetly- because the big guys will undercut this but posibly fail things that are on borberline. i will not open myself up for forum discussion as this could compromise pass /fail criteria. i will remain true and representative to the test. and thiss takes into consideration old vehicles whitch have come up for discussion with vosa rergarding how mutch play, etc is allowed on certain components,a good and informed tester will be able to talk you through your vehicle's criteria... if thats how its spelt..ha.ha teacher
