What happened to a good night at the cinema.
Discussion
You're not getting old, you're getting ripped off.
Cinemas are way too expensive and usually the gathering point for chavvy
s (I believe you call them 'NEDs'
) as well. I feel more worried leaving my car in a cinema car park then a supermarket!
All the above contribute to my thinking twice about going. And usually decide against it in favour of spending so much for so little...in other words; for me, cinemas have priced themselves out of the entertainment market.
(O/T But I reckon this is why so many Hollywood stars/studios are getting involved in 'Epic' TV series such as Boardwalk Empire and the like....)

Getting old, and it's prohibitively expensive.
Also, hate sitting around teenagers who haven't learnt how to wash or turn their phones off yet.
With the size of tv available to buy for home, I'm surprised cinema hasn't gone the way of the video arcade before now.
Stay at home, you don't need to have strangers around you to enjoy a film.
Only exception is taking kids to see the latest animated nonsense. May as well let them have fond memories of being able to go to the pictures and get change out of £50.

Was going to take the missus and our 4 year old to see Cars2 3D at Kilmarnock Odeon. For bog standard seats it was going to be £22. Then there is the £3 for the 3D glasses we don't have. Then no doubt £5-6 for 2 drinks and a bag of minstrels.
£30 for 2 hours in front of a big screen?? Needless to say we shall wait till it comes out on Blueray

I use the Vue in hamilton, its loads cheaper than the showcase. I usually get whats called a snackit which gives you popcorn, a kitkat and a juice for about £3.50. Also the seats are bigger and comfier with wider isles so more legroom.
johnny
The Vue has superb seats! The premium ones are even better. I agree about the showcase being overpriced. Was there a few weeks ago seeing the last harry potter, i keep my 3d glasses in the car, always handy to have them. johnny
We went to cineworld in aberdeen beach. Could get to cups of juice and bag of popcorn for a tenner. She had to sit next to the fattest bird ive seen in my life. Arm rests actually strained towards my other half so she could fit it. Ion the other hand had a tidy blonde at my side so win win for me.

Freelander 3D That'd scare the kids

We went to see Horrible Bosses at the Grosvenor, Ashton Lane, Glasgow West End.
Booked a sofa, what a transformation of the "cinema experience". Cushions and a fleece to rest your head and neck on. The normal seats are large and in pairs with a shelf both sides for your drinks etc.
You can take a proper glass of wine and beer in from their bar next door.
Because the 2 auditoria are small, the screen size is plenty big enough and "Yes", they do 3D films.
We booked an inclusive deal, 2 course dinner for two with a bottle of wine and 2 sofa tickets for £60. (Normal seats, £50)

It really is expensive.
I use my student card, which gets me in for ~£5.
Usually nip in by Asda beforehand and buy stuff to take in.
Ive recently found that if you book online (with Cineworld anyway) and collect the tickets, you can select student discount without having to provide any proof.I use my student card, which gets me in for ~£5.

Tickets for a Fiver, its like being 18 again!

k all in the cinema! Absolute rip off. Totally agree with every word of that. I just don't get it, why can't people just go to watch a film without having to stuff endless quantities of expensive, unhealthy, sugar coated shi7e ito their gubs. Maybe it would be a good idea to have designated separate eating areas within the cinema for all those helpless pigs that feel they have to eat/slurp whilst watching a film.
I used to really enjoy going to see films on the big screen despite the cost but all of the above has put me off going back.
