Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to get from the junction of the A93 and A939 (Ballater) to Tomintoul in 15 minutes or less (in either direction)

Let me know how you get on!! thumbup

22.5 miles of totally mental roads in 15 mins .. so an average of 90mph ?

Has it been done? .. tell the truth! and if so, in what exactly?

I know of a certain Evo that couldn't have been far off that in years gone by!

I came back along South Deeside late last night and done almost the entire A939 to just behind Nairn and then Cawdor to Culloden Battlefield and home. A great bit of midnight hooning and not one deer or unfenced sheep anywhere.

I've done it in 16 minutes on the bike, though I doubt I'd do it again. That was just going by the clock on the bike, not a stopwatch. I reckon on something slightly more sports oriented it could be done in less than 15 mins, though you'd have to leave your brain in Ballater and get it on the way home

Sorry can't condone breaking the law.

Big Al.
Been thinking about that one. Id say its easier heading West to get a good time but its a hell of a challenge. I use that road around once a week at this time of year so Ill get a 'not trying' benchmark shortly using my 535d with the wife and kids and luggage. I must have been close in October 2006 when I was going to the Mull rally in my 22B. I say this as I wrote it off at bridge of Brown bewteen Tomitoul and Grantown.......

15 mins for that road would be a truly loopy pace. Could maybe do it 18 or so mins in "attack mode". An average of 90 through there could only be done with a heady combination of skill, madness, luck and a mahoosive power to weight ratio!

in my defence to my original post being removed i was just meaning to go along the lecht road for a good drive, no mention of breaking any road laws! it is an amazing piece of road up there, and quite dangerous if travelling at speed so should of course be treated with respect, last time i was there was on a pistonheads run back in february in my old ibiza, where at the top was so snowy you couldn't see a couple of car lengths in front of you!!
