KB_S1 - yup... that was the quickest overall (backed up with VBOX timing smile )

The vid was from an earlier lap 1:07 from memory. I had 1 lap that was 0.5s up by the banked hairpin but was waay to eager on the throttle for the exit and didnt hold the slide

I had a few aborted laps - 1 with a full dead stop still managed a 1:07 :/ hehe

dude in the fiesta no racesuit not even a proban marshals overall, sorry Adam but if you are going to run even unnoficial sprints then a helmet and some kind of protection must be mandatory as proban ovies wont be as good as a nomex 2 layer suit but will be a lot better than bare arms

fact is on a racetrack under race conditions marshals with firebottles will be a lot closer if you have a bbq than at a sprint and if you are trapped in a car that is on fire having a bit of protection is a lot better than none. I know the regs for sprints nowadays (MSA nat B) say that helment, nomex suit, gloves and boots are mandatory and must be in date

Alan - it wasnt anything official... certainly not MSA governed.

It was just a fun day out.

In these HSE crazy days it is somtimes refreshing to have an open event like this... a more friendly atmosphere, people milling about chatting to each other.

We advised on the safety requirements but didnt make helmets/race suits/race gloves/underwear/boots mandatory. Belts yes, helmets + longsleeved tops advised.

If we did enforce race suits, gloves, boots etc it would sease to become a 'fun' event. There wouldnt be enough people taking part for starters!

In a perfect world we'd all drive at trackdays in full race gear - but not many do - costs!!!

The speeds at KH and potential to hit something or someone are prob higher too - for example. Most cars would have just been touching 70odd mph on the layout we set.

Looked like a fun day out and i agree it is nice to see a more relaxed event. If you don't like the risk's don't take part seems simple to me.

You'd do well as an HSE advisor...

Great event Adam, only spectated for a while but enjoyed it and the bacon roll! I'll join in next time.

Anything more than helmets would have been unnecessary and a bit silly for the sort of event/speeds that were achieved.

Cheers
