HI guys, I have been on a Tesco Sim only plan which has been with O2 on my Iphone 3GS. I am about to go to the new Iphone 4GS and am wanting to know if I should stick with 02 or go to Vodafone.

I am mostly around Edinburgh-Fife. I was told Vodafone was meant to be the best when I first got to Scotland. Is this the case?

Cheers.

I used to work for BG doing 40,000 miles a year covering the whole of Scotland. Started of using Vodaphone, then they switched to Orange, there are blind spots with them all. I now use O2 have done for about the last 8 years.
I think the coverage from all of them is much of a muchness now.

I had 02 for a couple of years and signal was ok but too many dark spots for me. Their customer service was poor but that was a few years ago.

Happily been with vodafone for 8 yrs now with no problems and they keep giving me a good deal to stay so cant complain.

Every network will have pros and cons tho.

Yeah I think every network has its pro's and con's. I used O2 and never had any problems with signal quality, I am now on Vodaphone and when I am at my parents in Pitlochry, Perthshire the signal is awful once you step inside any building.

Vodaphone used to have the best rural coverage, but then O2 upped their game and covered areas Voda didn't, Orange were sometimes a mix of the two but never quite as good as either of them.
Three used to piggy-back the O2 cells and I use them, but I beleieve they (Three) have changed to Orange now.

I can't say I've compared much recently but I'd doubt Voda or O2 have expanded much leaving space for Orange to expand into, whether they have taken that space is hard to say.

If you find a black-spot in an urban/central area then the chances are it's a black-spot for all operators, in rural/highland areas one of the big two should cover you in most places.

T-mobile have never had much rural coverage and I've never used them, I have let T-mobile users use my 3, O2, or Voda phone to make calls.

My wife is on o2 and i seem to get a better phone signal with vodafone but she can surf the web and check emails quicker than me.

The fact i have the nokia n900 may account for this but i doubt it as using wifi my phone is as quick if not quicker.

i've got a Iphone 4 on Vodafone and am living in city centre Edinburgh. I've not had one problem unlike my flat mate who's O2 and struggles at points to get a 3G connection.

In the Angus area Vodafone internet connection is very unreliable so I don't rate it good for where I am. Hoping it improves.
