Went to Crail today for the Ultimate Streetcar event.

This was my first time since the fatal accident in August. Glad to report that quite a few good safety changes have been made.

All vehicles are now inspected before being allowed on: Battery check, wheel check, tyres, general suspension, underside and importantly since the accident, that you have a working seatbelt. Prior to actually rracing they were also checking that people were wearing their seatbelts. In addition, if your car is likely to hit 120mph over the 1/4 you must wear a helmet (admitedly this doesn't apply to many....gutted my best terminal velocity is only 118mph frown )

I am sure there will be some who will argue that more "controls" are needed, but I think the changes are all sensible and should make for a safer days fun for all. We need to bare in mind how many safe days racing there has been there in the past...one unfortunate incident shouldn't spoil everything for everyone! Bottom line....everyone needs to take responsibility for their own safety!!
