Hi guys.

Due to splitting with the wife, I’m looking for a flat to rent in Glasgow. If any of you have any leads (or even have anything yourselves), I’d really appreciate a wee email or message. Probably city centre or West End, or at least somewhere with easy transport links (like a Subway station). Just a one bedroom or studio flat, under £600 per month.

Also … one of the nicer places I’ve already viewed was a flat in the Skyline Building, by the Clydeside Expressway and the Skypark. I could only take that if I also found a parking space for rent either in the basement car park or very close by (because I’m a PHer and I’m damned if I’m losing the Porsche because of all this!) So, again, if anyone has any leads on such a thing please drop me a line!

Cheers.

Forget about getting a space in the basement car park, it's very difficult to get people to give them up as they were allocated to the buyers of the 2 bed flats and up, however I believe that if you rent a flat there and take a Greens or Virgin gym membership (both nearby) you can use their secure car parks, maybe worth a call to both?

My colleague used to live in this block, similar story, split with girlfriend, needed a city pad and had a Porsche! It has secure underground parking with lift access directly into the building, they're nice spacious flats in a refurbished development, and the ground floor flats aren't really ground as there's a gap between the building and the pavement and they're elevated, so quite secure.

Thanks for the suggestions so far guys.

Dougie - that’s a bit far out from the city for me. I’m looking closer in for now, will widen my search later if I don’t get anything!

Andrew - that’s not too shabby, ta. Also led me to spot another place form the same agents that looks spot on … we shall see …

Yellowbentines - Fair point on the Skyline Building. Good to know. I have seen one parking space up for rent there, but at £120 per month, it’s somewhat OTT! St. Andrew’s Square isn’t a bad shout though. It’s actually right behind my current flat in Homes for the Future, which means the downside would be staying neighbours with the ex-wife.

Cheers Steven. I’m at least getting to fix up my poorly Porker with some of the cash from the old flat … so in PH terms, it’s not all bad.

Y’know how we were talking about bumping into PHers all over the place? At the very next crossroads, I almost got run down by a bloke in some old Japanese metal with a big red PH smiley on the bonnet!

Most west end areas have parking permit allocation (£50 for the year)

Otherwise I know of a off street car park which is free to use in the Sandyford area.

I leave my Lotus there all the time with no issues smile

That’s handy. Street parking permits in the city centre are more than double that.

^^ I spotted Angelus in Hope Street yesterday afternoon during our extended fire alarm too...

Plenty of 'spotted's, just no cars involved! hehe

Its quite difficult to get a parking permit in the city centre. The building must have been converted to a doestic property before Jan 2000 so a lot of the newish conversions dont meet that criteria.

I used to live in York Street, def not the nicest of areas. Stay clear of there or any of the surrounding streets. Pros and junkies kicking about all the time.
Also came out to the car one morning to black footprints over the car roof and bonnet.

Plus it can be very difficult to get a parking space during the day, most of the spaces are taken up by crippled cons. (Folk that have a blue bag through a faily member and use it for themselves)

Personally I would not consider living in the city cetre unless I'd a secure garage, even more so with a decent car

You never know where PHers are lurking, I think Gemma is going to contact you shortly with details of a parking space I managed to locate wink

Haha! There genuinely are PHers everywhere … cheers for that. If that means what I think it does, kudos on having three paintings by a very good mate of mine up on your office walls.

I’ll need to call in and say thanks for the help, but I’ve put an offer in on another property. Looks like I’m moving out West, just near the Clyde Tunnel. Which means late-night tunnel runs with the windows down …

Probably - I work in High St's coolest goldfish bowl, if that's what you mean smile
Paintings by Mr Hunter? I have one on my own wall at home, my colleague is a very good friend and ex-flatmate of his.

Not Mr Hunter, Mr McFeely (or Elph, as he's better known). The big cardboard chap in the middle of the wall and the two portraits opposite. Sadly, I'll be saying goodbye to my favourite one of his paintings as it belongs to the wife …

If you fancy a beer on Wed night, a bunch of us are heading to the Blythswood for PH chat. There's a thread about it somewhere around here.
