Headed down to Leith today to drop some paperwork off to my accountant, just past Newhaven there is a set of traffic lights with 2 lanes for going straight ahead, they change as I am approaching and I stop in the outside lane. A Renault Scenic pulls up in the inside lane (I am in my S4), the lights change and I pull away with the Renault alongside, I am aware that the road changes to single lane a couple of hundred yards in front of us so I accelerate a little to pull ahead. The Renault again mimicks my speed so I slow slightly and he does the same forcing me to accelerate hard to get clear before the road narrows, when I'm clear I bring the cars speed down and then slow to a stop at the next set of lights, I look in my mirror to see two blokes laughing in the Renault, they obviously thought that was great fun. They stay well behind me along the next section which is fine with me, the lights are green at the Constitution Street junction where I am turning right, as I do so the Renault skims past me doing well over an estimated 40mph, I check my mirror to see a police Freelander pulling out of the dock entrance with its blue lights on and I think I hope thy are after the idiot. I deliver the papers then going on to visit a plumbers merchants I come down a street to see the Renault pulled over, the driver out of the car with the 2 police, I slow to a halt and the numpty looks accross at me, I give him a smile and a thumbs up and drive on, his face was a picture. Sometimes it is very satisfying.smile

Bit harsh being charged just for driving a Scenic but if means less on the road it's worth it, lol

I remember an ex colleague of mine having a very nice BMW 325.

Driving it spiritedly on a country road he knew well, he came against some boys in an XR2, overtook them but they never forgave him and tried keeping on his bumper thereafter.

Unfortunately for them, my mate drove that road regularly and knew that there were certain bends that you could take at speed only if you got the driving line perfect with a clear view of the road ahead.

He never even offered to pull them out the field......

Quite possibly it was a quick glance in my rear view.

Excellent post and it's great when things fall into place. I had something similar about 15 years ago. I was heading up to Fort William to go walking and got caught behind a car going a bit slower. I past him at the first safe opertunity and soon pulled away. I wasn't driving overly quick, just not breaking too much for the corners. I was in my imprezza estate which was brand new. A few miles further up the road i was caught up by the car while i was driving through a 30 limit. He then overtook me in the 30 limit. When he came into the national speed limit, i soon caught the numpty up who was back doing about 45mph. He drove faster through the 30mph than in the 60mph. I passed him again when it was safe. I then approached Fort William which from memory is either a 40mph or 30mph quite a few miles before entering town. The numpty caught back up and after driving up my ar#e, pulled out and passed me. Must have been doing 60mph+. I was obviously very impressed with his speed. 3-4 corners later and there was a police speed trap which had caught numb nuts and had pulled him over. I gave the horn a toot and gave a wee wave..... totally made my day. Probably pulled the same face as your guy!!

It's the clapped out civic neds drivers that come from pilton that do my head in through those traffic lights (I live in Western Harbour) I just let them go past as I care a lot more about my car than they do about theirs....

ok, if you know the area, grange road, between dunfermline and rosyth.

i left elgin industrial estate in a customers citroen c3 heading to rosyth on test drive. police 5 series passed going toward dunfermline. oh aye, thinks i.

anyhow, turned round at lexmark roundabout and headed back to garage. grange road a 40mph. goes down to 30 just before gasworks, so i slow to 30 on the dot, corsagirl behind me right on back bumper. goes for an overtake just coming up to gasworks, PC steps out and flags her in at gasworks. gave me a wave and thumbs up. lol.

same 2 cops i see at least twice a week. they usually wave, and i usually dont speed (in that area).
