Hi chaps, apologies if this has been done to death before.

My mate is getting married in June this year and likes his cars, so his only demand for the wedding is that the cars have to be something interesting, and preferably something(s) he and I (best man) would be allowed to drive - we're both 27 with clean licences and plenty no claims.

Other than the likes of Rio Prestige, does anyone have any good recommendations, or have something interesting they'd hire out personally? Ideally something supercar-like, or 911 etc. but willing to listen to any ideas for a cool car smile

Cheers!

Porkagain has a boxster you can drive or a 911 he will chauffer for you - he may be up for you getting insured yourself for the 911 - you can only ask?

Rio prestige is no more. The company shut down and sold off all the cars at least 2 years ago now.
You could try speaking to the Classic Car Club in Corstorphine in Edinburgh.

Stick a post on Scottish Elises, couple of guys on there do this kind of thing. One guys rents out Elises and another guy might be up for some more exotica.
Might be worth a hunt on Motac autocentres website, owners used to lease out exotica.

Cannot remember the company, but I very nearly booked a Maserati Quattroporte (or whatever the saloon one is) as my wedding car a few years ago. Not sure if that would tick any boxes? Decided against it as I wanted to actually drive rather than being driven, but in the end didn't bother at all and just got driven up in my mate's Pininfarina-designed car*

You could try Exhilarte Scotland. They certainly used to hire out their cars - http://www.exhilaratescotland.com/cars.html

Try Waterside Classics in Rutherglen, not 100% sure if they will hire for you to drive, could be worth checking out, would be nice to turn up in a DB5??

Thanks guys, much appreciated! I had no idea Rio Prestige were gone, last I checked the website was still functioning. I'd seen the Caterham hire before so that's definitely on the shortlist too.

As Barry kindly said I can possibly help OP with a Boxster or 911 if i nterested please ctc me via profile or www.gtcarhire.co.uk.

Openroadhire (Caterham) has now changed ownership and is based nr Elgin now, however I'm sure if you contact Boydd he will be able to help. Andrew Still is no longer hiring out the Boxster in Perth.

Hope this helps, good luck with your search!

I'd say no chance!

I chauffeured for a couple of years for David at Waterside (so have driven said DB5 cloud9), even some of his own drivers don't get to drive the more valuable cars!

The DB5 is very nice and does have small back seats so will take a groom and best man, the Bentley Continental SC is also a nice muscle car to turn up in, and I'm also a fan of the MkII Jag, lovely sound and proper old school blokes car.

According to window posters at their old site (I've been inside the showroom itself, there were some cracking cars in there), they've actually moved to Charterhill Grove in The Grange area
