Stonehaven to Fort William

Myself and two friends are planning to cycle from Stonehaven to Fort William in the summer for charity. Does anyone know the best route to avoid any major roads etc, and any tips?

Over the slug road to Banchory, up to Ballater, over the lecht to tomontoul, down to grantown, up to Aviemore, down to Dalwhinnie on the old A9,across to Spean bridge and down to FW!!

Almost fancy a bit of that myself!!
