Thinking about doing the Glasgow Sub Crawl, we are a group of English lads but are not into making a lot of noise, singing, wearing football shirts, getting into scraps, offending people, we are pretty quiet & respectful. Have been working our way round the London underground nework with no issues...

Question is, as long as we avoid a Rangers home day, is this a safe crawl to do or are some of the stops in bad areas where we are likely to get our heeds kicked tae fook?

Thanks

Govan. Drink quickly don't talk about football or make eye contact with locals sporting multiple facial scars. wink

Do it clockwise starting from StEnochs, probably the best way to do it.
That's the way I did it and it is a great day out but remember to fit in
the "escalator run".

I agree with the Clockwise from St Enochs as the most barren stretch is between St Enochs and Partick which is best done in the afternoon - its good to just have a swift half in each of the seven stations south of the river...there are very very few pubs at west street, bridge street or shields road so it just needs to be endured however the fun begin from Partick back to St Enochs.

Rangers fans doing you in???

What!

Would it be more Celtic fans over Rangers. Sorry if i've got myself mixed up in the 2 supports, not a footie fan.

Don't worry, Govan isn't too bad (I live there).

It is a good idea to do it clockwise though. That way the crappy pubs and areas are done and out the way before you get too drunk.

Doing it when the football is on will be a pain for actually getting on the subway, but it will mean that the pubs are busy and you don't stick out too much.

It's called the Subcrawl man, get the title correct ffs! biggrin

We do it every year at Halloween in fancy dress. Doing it on the same day as Rangers home games are definitely a terrible idea, also for some of the first few pubs doing it when a Rangers away game is on the telly isn't the greatest either. As said already, get the first 5 or 6 pubs in the bag as quickly as possible, and leave the West End/Cowcaddens/Buchanan St until last.

Stadium Bar at Ibrox (if its still open) is without doubt the worst/most dangerous of the lot, however last year they were amazingly friendly - opened up the bar especially for us, and served us free rolls, bizarre.

The whole reverse escalator gauntlet of doom thing may well get you chucked off the Subway though so be careful, many a time I've had to walk between two stops as a result!
