MX5 MK1 Replacement Hood - help!
Discussion
Hi there - I have a beautiful 1998 Mk1 MX with a knackered hood!
Here are my questions:
Can I fit a MK2 hood with a glass window?
Does this eliminate the zip requirement - it's so fiddly and a total PITA. I snapped the zip on my last MX and it cost a ruddy fortune to fix as I had to get a new hood.
How difficult is it to fit yourself?
Are there any garages in Scotland where I could take it to be fitted?
Thanks!
Audrey

Yes, that's what I had on my Mk1, you just have to be careful it folds flat. Not sure where to get it done but check on the MX5 Scotland forum, they'll keep you right.

I fitted a new hood on my own mk.1 last year, I bought one of the dandycars vinyl hoods with the zip-out plastic window as my hood needed done quick so I went for the cheapest option - pleased with the quality & fit.
In terms of fitting I watched their fitting DVD first, and did the removal & refit myself, took a full day including repairing rain rail (a very important part of the process if you're not replacing it), only "specialist" items were a pop rivet gun & some heavy duty contact adhesive. Its not too difficult if you take your time & have a good vocabulary of swear words!
I'd have offered you the DVD but gave it away to someone else on here last year, worth trying to get a hold of a copy from Dandycars or on youtube/similar if you fancy trying to fit yourself, its step by step and very helpful.
