Girlfriend just phoned, her dad phoned her and said all his helicopters have been grounded as there is one down in the north sea somewhere.

Never got much more info than that from her, apart from its not a bristows one.

Any one shed any more light?

This was about 15 minutes ago she told me, so it sounds like this has just happened. Her dad works for bristows.

its on bbc news now, yep its another bond one, shame it keeps happening to their choppers as they have always been a more professional service in my experience.

If the people are safe then well done to the pilots for getting it down in one piece.

So happy everybody is alive.

We (shell) are switching to Bond in the next few months. Gives me an uneasy feeling.

Can we be more specific? Was this an outbound or inboard chopper. We've got over 100 people coming offshore today... Emergency Response team has kicked into life.

from stv website...

"It is understood it had left Aberdeen and was on a journey for oil operator Britannia, an umbrella company for Chevron/ConocoPhillips."

The helicopter was heading from Aberdeen to the Maersk Resilient and Ensco 102 drilling rigs when an alert was broadcast.

Yep. Callsign 88R is as you state.

All pax and crew recovered and accounted for as at a few minutes ago. MGB oil issue apparently. Type confirmed as EC 225

Controlled ditching due to oil pressure warning, according to a friend in the know.

Was heading to Maersk Resilient & Ensco 102. Was bumped from that flight this morning, my lucky day! Glad to hear everyone is ok.

This was one of the reasons I gave up the rigs. I started medicating myself to get onboard the bloody things! frown

Very glad everyone ok.

I am bad enough as it is on those damn things this is not helping. Good to read they put it down safely good effort to the pilots.
