Or..... get your dad to do it, he's been sitting with his feet up recently

Oi! I resemble that remark!!

Besides I think the chav tint suits him!

Then again I've told him how to do it, borrow his Mums hairdryer, heat the film and peel off as you go then use white spirit to remove the adhesive, but he never believes what I tell him!

Isn't it strange though how when the brown smelly stuff hits the rotating thing, it's always us dads that have to sort things out. Pah, kids! My consolation is that he has his own kid now so I can look forward to my dotage(if I make it that far) to being entertained by their antics and solutions

I was doing window tints for a living around the time the law changed and clamped down on then. I can assure you it is a pain in the arse, loads of mess and a nightmare if you can't get behind the runners of a window properly.
used to use an orange smelling adhesive remover from auto-smart I think it was, turns the glue to gloop and scrapes off with a good razor blade. worth removing the doorcards, parcel shelf etc.
as said above on a rear window its worth being a bit more gentle as the heating element will come off in the film, used to heat the window with the element for a few minutes then heat the outside gently with a heat gun before trying to remove anything.
if its an import your driving then the Japanese films will come off in small crappy strips and the films they use stink once you start peeling them off.
find a local tint shop and they will do it for a small price and saves you being responsible for any mess made.
hope this helps

I've actually replaced the glass before rather than go through the hassle of trying to get the stuff off. Granted it was on older cars when they weren't bonded in as is the norm these days.
Mentioned already but the heated rear window runs a fair risk of never working again once the film is peeled off, or more annoying still, only some of the lines will work.
If its bonded in rear quarter windows then I'd be out with the stanley blade, hair dryer & the tar and glue remover. For the rear glass I'd be hoping and praying the glass excess on my insurance policy wasn't much and that someone had an accident with some step ladders as they were using them next to the back of the car.
