Have been really busy at work lately so decided I needed a short break. Where better than a nice drive to the West Coast and stay in a good hotel.

Was going to take the Aston but I was still taking calls all morning on Friday when we were driving up so took the C4S as I can actually insure my g/f on that! Car was superb, roads were fun, weather was pretty pants but hotel was incredible. Quite simply the finest all round hotel experience I've had. If anyone's fancying a trip to Torridon then stay at The Torridon. It really is unbelievable. Dinner was perfection.

Friday's weather was really poor but the sun came out for a few mins this morning so I got a few pics. smile

Sorry Mr Carter, not your sort or quality but I was only equipped with one of Apple's finest....

She enjoyed the car. smile

Looks like you had a good time smile

I've heard good things about The Torridon. It's an area I haven't been to yet but it's on my list!

It's well worth the trip. Google maps makes it look a little epic a journey but we broke it up into portions. The g/f drove Aberdeen to Inverness with a stop at Aboyne for some lunch at the Sign of The Black Faced Sheep (if you haven't been then I would recommend; great soups and sandwiches and cakes......nom nom biggrin ). I then drove Inverness to Torridon which was actually shorter than expected. Maybe 40-45 mins I think.

Coming back the g/f had enjoyed the drive up so much that I let her drive all the way back to Grantown where we have a house. We stopped at Culloden and Brodie Countryfare. Two great stops and well worth a look.

Hey Chop! You now in Oz or still in limbo before the whole move is made?

This one was more of an impulse purchase but I have always loved the 4S so when it was offered I jumped. It's been fantastic so far.

Yes, get in touch when you're back. I'm away the weekend of the 31st but back on the Tues. if you're still around then I'll come meet you.

It is a fantastic drive up that way, as are the roads around Grantown too, used to drive them all the time when I passed my test - albeit in an old Astra and not a Porsche hehe

Great photos too, and that car looks lovely thumbup

Sorry to see the rain. We too saw many a rainbow on the way home. The rain was just incessant!!!

Actually, the only time we saw sun all Fri/Sat was that moment. It had rained almost solidly before and continued to do so after.

Sodding rain.

I saw your car drive by from the other side of the Loch smile

Crap weather here eh? Still we REALLY needed some rain after 2 months dry. You may have seen that The Torridon was just voted 13th best hotel in the world by the Sunday Times Travel mag. Well deserved.

Haha! It's a small world/loch wink

Well I had a fantastic time and, despite the much needed rain, it has impressed me so much that I need to head up again. Next time will be in the Aston so we'll explore a little further and have a few days up there.

I quite understand why it has been voted that. There was no one thing I could say was better than anything else, it was just everything was so well done. The simple things like afternoon tea and breakfast even impressed.

Anyway, i'm now back in my 'temporarily' sunny Aberdeen office looking at my calendar to plan when I can next escape north.
