Hello, my car was originally red but had turned into a salmon pink colour so booked my car to be resprayed, spoke to the guy there and was told less than a week, just a few days. phoned mid august and told that theres a booking free on the 28/8/12 so I take my car along, the respray was for it's original colours so no interior work needed, just exterior (mainly the roof). Told it'll be done by the Friday. Phone on the Friday and told that due to poor weather it caused a slowdown of work since they can't do stuff outside so thought fair enough and told that I can pick it up the following tuesday. the 4/9/12. Phone and told that it will be done on the thursday 6/9, phone to be told they have started working on it and would be ready for today. Gave them a call and asked when to pick it up and how much it will be only to be told it's not done and probably be the following week until it's done.

This is becoming a major pain as I am having to book days off work whenever I'm being told to pick up the car, no communication at all except when I phone. Also a friend of mines dad has taken his car in yesterday and is picking it up tomorrow. I am tempted just to go to the car place and just take the car away as I am now having to pay for taxi's constantly and haven't done any proper food shopping in ages, I was prepared for short while without the car but not this constant.

I never pay up front for things like this for reasons like this and obviously can't hold my car against it's will but I can see things going a bit tits up if I turn up to take the car away, any advice as to what I can do? already told them I need it done before the end of the day tomorrow as I need the car for sunday only to be told "no promises"

admittedly I am getting it rather Cheapish at £400-500 as it was my friend's Dads pal's place that is doing it but still I'd rather have it done when they say it will be done

I would go and pick it up, no work has been done so no cost incurred. I hate to ask an obvious question but have you tried t cut and polish etc, its surprising what results you can get.

only thing I'm worried about is that it's half done and they'll just take their time finishing it

Garages like that piss me off, they told you it had a "booking" or "slot" so they should have done it. (take a friend for back up) Go and pick your car up and spend your money elsewhere. Customer service should be a priority for these places. Grrrr

its a 95 Rx7, wasn't just fading that was an issue, some of the fairings had a mismatch in paint, front bumper and bonnet were darker than the rest of the car and the roof had sun damage and one of the wings had the laquer coming off. will try and get a trip over tomorrow however it is my bday and I am absolutely smashed out of my face so don't know how I will be tomorrow.

Hate to say this but if your car has only been in since the 28th, thats really not that long. I do understand it should be in and out, no reason why not but reality is a respray for £500 aint a showroom and you'll find that it will most likely take longer than expected.

Just go and see it daily, put the pressure on. I wouldnt take it away if your going to lose out
