Coming home tonight on the dual carriageway past Asda Robroyston (dual carriageway). Treating the roundabout as a clock face I am approaching at 6 o'clock and exiting at 2 o'clock so I am in the right hand lane indicating right. Two cars are in the left hand lane giving way to traffic already on the roundabout. Having given way I proceed round the roundabout until past the 12 o'clock position where I indicate left check over my left shoulder to find one of the cars that was waiting (at 6 o'clock) in my inside apparently coming off at the same exit as me. They then proceed up the road behind me flashing their lights and gesticulating at me. Being the reasonable chap that I am I stop the car and get out to enquire what their problem is. They claim I cut them on the roundabout and that I was In the wrong lane??? It might be 20 odd years ago I passed my test but have I missed something about roundabout etiquette?

I was taught if you were exiting after 12 o'clock you always use the right lane (unless road markings say otherwise). If exiting before 12 o'clock always use the left lane.

Quite a common driving incident. My most recent round about near miss was very much as described, 270 degree round a two lane round about so positioned in the right lane. 2 wedding cars in left lane decided they needed to get the bridal car at the back so did a no indication 360 from the left lane coming across the bonnet of the landrover at 90 degrees as I was exiting. Luckily the big barge has decent stoppers otherwise the wedding would have been without some key players.

Beware the weekend professional driver!

Generally I just move on, roadside discussions are not a good idea unless supervised by the BIB.

Ecosse, not sure if this is the same roundabout but from where you were do you have the option of going left, the turning you took, and then the turning into Asda?
If so I would say that your turning could be seen as being the straight on road and therefore either lane could have been the "right" lane?

I have a similar issue with a roundabout at Belziehill Bellshill. Two lane approach to either go 8 o'clock left, 11 o'clock or 2 o'clock. Everyone seems to use the left hand lane to do all 3 junctions when I take the right hand lane to take the 2 o'clock.

Have now learned to expect the unexpected.

I know EXACTLY what you mean, go through this roundabout daily.

To answer the post above, no, the first exit left is at 10 o clock, straight on at 12 o clock, 3rd exit at 2 o clock & 4th exit into Asda at 4 o clock.

The problems started when they erased the road markings, where you stopped at 6 o clock the inside lane used to have a white arrow on the road pointing left or straight on, the outside lane an arrow pointing right - both arrows have now been removed by the council (burnt off) for some reason and you now get numpties trying to beat the queue of traffic by going in the left lane to turn right (3rd exit), made worse by the fact they usually don't indicate as if to try and sneak round without anyone noticing.

Nothing you can do other than be aware of their presence and constantly check your mirrors.

I live locally so also use this roundabout virtually on a daily basis and regularly witness these numpties trying to beat the queues of traffic so know to expect this. The thing that really hacked me off about this latest incident is this clown gesticulating and flashing their lights at me as if I am the one in the wrong. I am seeing so many people doing this now at that roundabout that I was beginning to wonder if I have missed something regards roundabout etiquette or some update to the highway code.

I am going to start going through the Glendale estate to avoid these clowns as by using the roundabout correctly there is a very high likeliehood of being involved in an accident basically through no fault of your own.

I've been caught out on that roundabout myself and like you say, they flash and toot as if I am in the wrong.

Yes

Know it well Had one plonker get out his car to explain right hand lane from M8 was filter to ASDA!

Seems if you go round correct way watch your inside for the impatient ones

If you think that roundabout is bad try the single lane on singla lane off nearDobbies on Blamore road Correct way seems to be ignore lanes on roundabout with BIG arrows and go straight across sometimes (why do they do it) straight on through roundabout but enter with righthand idicator on
