Queen Street Parking Edinburgh??
Discussion
Afternoon all,
I've got a wedding tomorrow at the Royal College of Physicians at 9 Queen Street. I really don't know Edinburgh very well. We've been advised not to take the car as parking is limited, but to leave it at the wedding ceromony and get the bus\taxi. But with a 5 week old baby, buggy and all the associated luggage that comes with a baby that's really not going to be practical.
Looking on google maps there really seems to be very little parking around the venue and I'm guessing most of the street parking is permit only??
Any suggestions?

Plenty of parking on Abercromby Place or Heriot Row. Equally you could park for longer in the St James Centre multi story . Neither option is cheap however, and be aware that with the Trams Works, what might look like a direct route via a car isn't.....
Edited to add, there is also multi story parking under the Omni Centre at the end of Queen Street (East) and top of Leith Walk.

Thanks for that, will look into those options. We'll need parking until around 10pm from mid-afternoon. Hopefully the multi-stories will be open until then.
Great! Forgot about the tram works
That combined with a crying baby and an illiterate map reading wife should lead to a fun afternoon

I'd probably walk the extra hundred yards and head for the Omni Centre Parking. Access is via Greenside Place and there are lifts up to street level. 24Hrs too.

I thought these streets were free on Saturday's?If they aren't then the next one down (Northumberland Street) certainly is. Usually needs a trip round the block to find a space right enough (don't park on double or single yellows) but you should find one ok.
This is my approach if i take the car into town. St James/Omni won't be cheap and the Omni is probably equally as far away as Northumberland Street.

Your best bet is parking at the NCP under the Omni centre.
The bus service in Edinburgh is really good and has more than enough space to take a baby and all its kit but at £15 for over 4 hours stay in the NCP it will almost work out much the same as getting the bus to and from wher you would be leaving the car.

Watch out with Pay and Display bays that operate on a Saturday (the very centre of town). Most streets limit you to a 3/4 hour stay with no return within a 1 hour with parking wardens ready to pounce. Some of the bays are operative until 8.30pm which may be too late if you arrive mid-afternoon.
A couple of streets down from Queen Street is probably your best bet albeit a bit of a walk uphill to the Queen Street. Avoid the east end of Queen Street/top of Leith Walk as the tram works are playing havoc along there.

Graeme,
If you need to be near the venue there is on street metered parking. The meters use ringgo, its a good system pay via mobile.
Heriot Row is one street north of queen street and usually its possible to get a space. 4 hours max time limit finishing at 6.30pm would be ok for you if arriving mid afternoon. Queen street has meters too but 3 hour limit and busier so more difficult to get a space. Be sure to pay at the correct pay & display point as they are zoned to the spaces.
Ive got a space in town you could use if stuck, its near the omni centre. You’d need to pick up a pass from me on the way in. give me a shout if you want to use.
cheers
