Not been in it since it was taken over a couple of years back but i believe the Dunain Park Hotel still gets a good rep. Just outside the west side of Inverness.

Now called the Loch Ness Country House Hotel

So would I (I stay there 3 or 4 times a year), but it's nowhere near Inverness! The Torridon is 90 mins closer and much better. smile

GetCarter - The torridon is only good in peak season....out of season, everything is scalled back to a second rate hotel IMO!

Inverlodge is way better, but agree a lot further north.

Well I know both very well (I live in Torridon - so may be biased!), but I'd just add: The Torridon was just voted 13th best hotel in the world by The Times. smile And (FYI) there is no longer peak season, out of season at the Hotel... same staff and chef (the one that taught the winner of BBC Masterchef pro). Perhaps you may not have been here since the change of ownership?

I didn't know that. The last time we were there, they seemed to run a top hotel in the summer, but late autumn though to spring they had a far reduced menu, different chef etc etc but charged the same price and nowhere near as good.
This was a couple of years ago tbh.
I know the area very well too, my parents live near Lochcarron.
Next time I'm up I'll let you know and we could catch a beer somewhere.

Another vote for the Torridon here. It was a superb experience. The only dampener was the weather but that just meant I got to enjoy the relaxation of the lounge and a game of chess. smile
